Fitness standards (bleep test) isn’t judged based on what trade you go for, even though it should. Assuming your ages 18-24 I believe you need to hit 9.10 on the test HOWEVER just aim for 10.5 if you can before you go for training, by doing this (aiming higher) you’ll stand out from everyone else.

Nice collection of rules. Tonight will be my last night driving to the gym to do my last abs training. I decided that I am overly prepared and don't need to type to training. Looking at your rule. I've been called "the man'" at this gym only because I've been doing aggressive abdominal training. Not a good reason to be "be the man." I suppose I'm cheerful as I put my body through these challenges. I've liked severe abdominal training since high school. And this is the pain that I find. Failure--I will last as long as I can until I fail. I suppose I destroy fear. I have high self confidence and have failed publicly in competitions. Failure is a byproduct of aiming for the top. I've not sought advice for this upcoming challenge. Most guys think I'm nuts to let myself take such physical abuse to my abdominal wall but they like that I do it. Tonight I plan to do a lot of weighted abs exercises and take sets of best punches between sets. I'll pace myself over about 2 hours and just see how it goes. The 7 crucial rules just hit me as relevant to what I've been training for. I'm eager to see what happens but I decided I want my Friday evenings back. The guy I started training seemed to have other reasons for wanting me to train him. So I'm done helping others to take punches. Have a great weekend.

Stoic is what came to mind when I heard this. Then saw your shirt had it backwards. I gained 1 more year in my 20s. I now turn age 22 in 2 months. I think I've been stoic as long as I can remember. Once I qualified for benefits at work I started a Roth 401(k) and dug into personal finance and investment videos on KZfaq. Lots of BS videos of supposed multimillionaires who show their expensive cars but have to take their word that they aren't deep in debt to show their cars to us--and sell us courses in how to imitate them. I was working at age 12 to make money to stay in gymnastics. I started saving for a truck when I was maybe age 13. As I got old enough for a driver's license (not knowing I was only age 15 back then) I started finding ways to make more money to buy a truck--a very used truck I could pay for in cash. I think that all taught me the value of money. Some money was easy money (taking punches) and some was hard work (working for others and not paid as much as I'd like). I began a Roth 401(k) at work and it comes out of my pay automatically and into the bank. I don't see and don't expect to see it in my bank account. I also started savings for an emergency fund. Right now I'm living very cheaply. I've shopped at thrift stores all my life and still do. For me the #1 thing is not caring what other people think of you. Once you start caring then you arrange your life to impress them and try to live up to their outward show of money. The other thing I learned is that money isn't everything. If you need money to make you happy then you have other issues. For sure you need money to live and save for the future. But to live now like you have already arrived financially will keep you in debt. I'm younger than I knew I was and that is causing me to re-think my life in the past as well as the future. I'm not sure Stoic is the right word for me though.
@Howardk2
@Howardk2 18 күн бұрын
Yeah completely agree. People are faking it before actually making it. Everything I show on my channel are things I know & have accomplished. For me, yes I want money (everyone does) but I won’t show people how I’ve done it until I’ve ACTUALLY done it. But for now, I can teach stoicism, how to build a robust mindset and mega physique because I’ve done it. Hope u enjoyed the vid, remember any feedback let me know thank you so much :)

@@Howardk2 I grew up with a hard shell. Starting life in an orphanage was not fun. Leaving to do gymnast during the day was a way to escape. I've come to remember how I was bullied and punched when I got back when older boys met me. My mom later told me some of why she wanted to adopt me and how I was treated was one. Coming to USA was happy for me--to leave bad situation but then later to find new place to be bullied. I don't know. I think I believed that being bullied was normal human life. Bully or be bullied. I don't remember me being a bully given the situations. I was on receiving end. There's also the group against just me. Leaving American school to get away and do gymnastics at the academy was also sweet get away. After I got beat up (again a group of guys) I finally found a group of guys who would back me. But later of course I learned that they enjoyed me getting into severe abdominal training. I came to see how they manipulated me and that affected my personality and maybe mental health. I knew they liked having me around for what I would let them do to me but I did it anyway. I rationalized how I was getting stronger. And I did like the challenge. But I also was trying to build my body into a hard shell. I don't know how much my Ukrainian DNA also makes me. I remember identifying with Eastern European bar athletes and saw myself among them. I know how hard life is in Eastern Europe and feel so blessed to be in USA. I've been rethinking that I'm younger than I always thought I was. I grew up trying to keep up with other in my grade. Part was of course learning language but also being smaller than other boys in my grade made me try to be tough and strong. I think me striving to keep up and be better made me tough minded. I didn't know the word stoic until recently tbh. I saw some channels promoting it. Then saw your shirt and it hit me you are talking about stoicism. That must be part of my personality. I"m now training a guy to take hard punches and find it all a bit weird. I think maybe he is stoic. I've lived on my own since age 15 (thinking age 16) and have been happy with whatever I could find to get by. After my adoptive parents divorced we were poor and had to move into a tiny house on a farm. My mom was heroic I think in keeping us going. Maybe stoic herself. As I saw her struggle I didn't want to be part of that struggle and was trying to be more self-reliant. She was happy for me doing that so I tried all the more to be my own guy. She left money on table for me to use. But that wasn't enough to stay in gymnastics so working was just a natural thing for me to do. I feel grateful to be able to be where I am. I've not dreamed to be a millionaire. Maybe I've not adopted the American Dream but know that the good life doesn't mean they are happy. I have to be honest to that I'm not sure what happiness is. I liked being away at gymnastics but I realized I loved training for gymnastics more than competing in gymnastics. I think I've been my happiest when working out. I got into exercising my abdominals a lot very early in life and used it to cope with stress. I later understand that I was addicted to abdominal training because it released for me pleasure hormones. I got a high that I wanted more--I think because of not being happy. After I got into taking hard punches I started to get that high after a good hard "workout." It's not easy admitting that I got a rush being held in a full nelson or hanging from a pull up bar taking very hard punches. It wasn't want I intended but then it somehow gave me something I felt I needed. Re-living my life as a guy a year younger and training for the upcoming abs challenge has brought back a lot of memories and feelings. As I've been really leaning into severe abdominal training and having a group of muscular guys pushing me more things have surfaced. Thinking of happiness again. I struggled with addiction to abdominal training during the pandemic. I was so close to being out of high school that the pandemic just fueled it. When community college closed down and finances were dwindling my stress levels increased. Finding places outdoors to bar workouts turned out to be great. Finding a gorgeous young lady in my building to play tennis with was great. But then she moved to bubble with her family. Working at Menards then later at the construction company now helped me big time. I would say I'm leaning toward happiness. No one I know here knows my history of body self abuse (that is what it was). I feel somewhat dirty driving Friday nights to go to a gym and using the name my adoptive parents gave me and the nickname at that--Tony. I wanted to go where no one knew me but also be honest to say I was there to train for an abs challenge. It feels good them know why I'm training as I am but not really who I am. I still have some chills about what happened with me on IG and being targeted for extortion using my many nude pics. I haven't felt any blowback from their threats. But that still haunts me. Guys here have taken pics and videos of my workouts and I tell them to be careful as I don't want guys targeting me--they know my story of getting beat up. I'm trying to live in trust with them. They are good guys and treated me well. But I see them once a week. I'm rambling on a Sunday morning trying to follow Olympic tennis gold medal match in background. Stoicism and happiness. Stoicism maybe redefines what happiness is? Am I happy now? I can say that I'm in a job I like and making good money. I'm saving for the future which means I imagine myself having a future. What that is I don't know of course. I turn age 22 in just over 2 months. Deja vous with that birthday. In high school I celebrated my birthday with each guy giving me birthday punches. That's a memory I have each birthday. Have a good day.

Your second slide's a good one. When the pandemic first began I left the gym and was training on my own. For all sorts of reasons (exercise addiction a big part of it) I was training a lot more. But then the pandemic was crazy in terms of isolation. The biggest reason I'm driving so far away to train for my abs challenge is for the motivation of being with others. I knew I needed to train hard with others to keep me going. I also missed having a group of guys to really push me past my limits. I can count on a good group of guys who love my goals. Tonight I'll need one guy to hold me in a full nelson and others will take turns throwing their "best punches." This has turned out to be a lot of fun which I didn't expect to say. I also like the accountability as you say (Step 1). They expect me to show up and I know if I don't some guys will be pissed or disappointed. Also (Step 2) coming every Friday night without exception is part of my habit. I enjoy the ride over and back and keep the radio off. I'm also ready for a good shower before hitting the bed. I eat a medium size meal before I hit the road and drink a cold protein shake on my way home. I sleep fairly well. Good stuff in this video.

As a teen I was bullied but not because of my physique. I've always been extremely muscular and lean. I've always been secure in who I am even through the many years of being bullied. Maybe me coming from Ukraine made me tough mentally. I saw as you say American guys at school who were out of shape. I saw lots of athletes and many of them were very impressive. Only later did I learn that a lot of athletes saw my physique and were impressed--even when they made fun how I talked English or being a "foreigner" who should go back. My real friends were other gymnasts but they lived 2 hours a way. Right now I've made a whole new group of "friends" who to be honest are more impressed with my physique than anything else about me. They haven't spent much time wanting to get to know me outside of how I train. I knew if I trained my abs hard while being shirtless would gather some guys I hoped would help me train for my fall abs challenge. I don't know. I have mixed emotions about how I've been training my abs on Friday nights. I've come a long and feel I'm way over trained for anything that I'll need to do at the challenge. I now feel I need to keep training hard just because more guys are showing up and came to see me sweat. I don't know. I feel that I threw myself into this abs challenge only because it's been 5 years since graduating high school and feel that the guys I trained with back then are expecting a lot of out of me. I definitely admit that consciously or not I've judged other athletes (not non-athletes) by how muscular and defined their abdominals (and arms) are. In high school I also found some guys who wanted to take punches because they had muscular abs only to learn that after a few seriously hard punches they were wasted. I enjoyed guys who thought taking punches is easy. I know (back in high school) that I was highly judgmental of those who bullied me but they themselves were in shit physical condition. I will say that the wrestlers were the guys I most admired even before getting to know them after I got beat up. They were the ones who told me how many other athletes actually were impressed with my physique and how I trained for gymnastics. They just didn't like me--even without getting to know me. It's okay not to like me if you know me. But to prejudge me is stupid. About women. I gave up in high school even thinking about dating given I was deep into training to take punches. I accumulated visible damage and felt no girl would want to sleep with a guy who let himself get beat up. I later learned again that lots of girls found me very hot--but didn't have courage to get to know me. I was sexually active at age 14 (used to think it was age 15) with an older (now even older) female gymnast. But that was before I was beat up and spending more time at the gymnastics academy. I knew she was just using me to get experience for going off to college but I was very okay to get started with her. She made it clear that we weren't dating only having fun. Now I'm hiding the hard parts of my past from all the people I know around me. I put myself and my body trough a lot of shit in high school and still working through the effects of that. That is one "fear" I have of doing the abs challenge 5 years after graduating high school. They also don't know that I was really a year younger than I was doing all this shit. About making online income. I flirted with the idea of doing an onlyfans focused on severe abdominal training and make millions then quit onlyfans. But I don't want the type of audience that would draw. I learned later the type of people who enjoy "gut punching" videos. For me it became a physical challenge but for others it's a sexual turn on. I never understood how taking hard punches could ever be sexy. But I have begun savings through my company and learning more about investing. I'm not into making millions and living the independent (from work) life. I want to save for retirement. I also want to have enough money to start a family at the right time and have 4 kids. I heard 4 children is the optimal happiness number of kids to have. Your comment about the friends is interesting. My friends are no longer gymnasts but guys and gals in construction. I like them a lot and they seem to like me a lot. Some are young guys with young families who invite me to meals a lot especially on holidays. They know enough of my background (not getting beat up and the changes because of that) and find me a guy they like knowing. I enjoy the older guys at work who care about things such as savings for the future. They took my age change really well and helped me figure out the truth. I like the work and people I work with. I just haven't found many women my age I would like to date.

@@Howardk2 Sugars added to foods is really harmful--can fuel cancers (increase risks of cancer), contributes to dementia, as well as cause insulin resistance that leads to accumulation of visceral body fat. Simply eliminating foods with "added sugars" (in the US that is a mandated category to be on all food products) is an easy fix. If you need to use sugar try using Allulose which has been heavily studied and seems to have a lot of benefits other than non-caloric and causes very minimal insulin increases. Adding Allulose has been shown to influence other sugars in the meal such that the insulin increase post-meal is lower than without Allulose. You can find lots of great videos on the science and benefits. In the US they might start using Allulose more widely in food products that will be sold. I grew up not eating added sugars and never got into eating sugary foods. That along with a lot of exercise has kept me in single digit body fat. Simple changes in diet and exercise over time produce amazing results. And these are not hard changes to make.

That is the reasons must be genuine. And maybe the reasons need to be aimed correctly? Thinking out loud here. I think if you have 1 powerful reason that can go a long way. I heard that the best indicator of whether a guy will not drop out of the military when going through basic training is whether they have a history in their young lives of not giving up when things get very difficult. I found that to be true about me. When I commit to do something (a tough core challenge for example) I won't give up. I don't know how that factoid maps onto the idea of having reasons.

There's one house remodeling and farm channel (he does both in one channel--Cole the Cornstar) I like a lot. The host is a 26 year old farmer named Cole. He has a Ukrainian worker named Roman who is a world arm wrestling champion with both right and left arms--fun guy. They both do a great job remodeling Cole's 100 year old family farm house. But Cole will list all the things they need to get done then just say, "There's nothin' to it but to do it." I love that line and think of that line a lot.

I think the best thing about a life in gymnastics is that it gave me was a lot of discipline. I had to show up and work hard. Do things again and again paid off. Seeing the results is really motivating to keep going over the long haul.

I find that I'm not too good at multitasking. I also realized that I could gymnastics very well by confining myself to one sport and not able to do more than one sport with the expectation that I would be good at both sports. Some guys are amazing athletes and can do 2 sports and both very well. That's not me.
@Howardk2

You don’t really need to be an excellent multitasker. You only really need to be good at multitasking when it comes with shallow, distracting work. Concurrent activity is what the military is good at.

How do you quantify a 1% improvement in your life? I can see that with things like pounds/kg lifted and anything that deals with numbers such as pushups, pull ups, sit ups..
@Howardk2
@Howardk2 2 ай бұрын
For me it’s more of a “saying” that actually working out by percentages. So say you read for 10 mins on Monday, read for 11 on Tuesday. Just do a little more.

@@Howardk2 So I guess anything that can be quantified is always up for improving. I suppose this applies to training for my upcoming abs challenge. I'm back to Friday evening workouts and found a nice group of 3 guys eager to help me improve. They didn't know each other until I asked for their help. I will have 3 pair of MMA gloves from now on.

I'm here in the US and things of course are different. I have gone the trades route without doing a lot of trying. I definitely don't get paid 100k pounds! I was recruited by both Marines and Army when I visited a county fair and saw both of their recruiter booths. Right now I'm learning a lot and maybe one day will start my own company or move up to be co-owner with others. I'm not someone who has to make a lot of money or make it fast. I didn't go to University when my dream of gymnastics there died. I would have floated and as you said been in huge debt. Now that I know I'm age 21 and not 22 I feel like I've got a year back. But still trying to figure out what direction I want to go.

I like muscle ups a lot because they do pull ups and triceps in one great functional move. I visited my high school this weekend and have not been back in almost 5 years. I did a full long bar workout at the very spot where I got beat up. A friend drove in to join me and we had.a great talk about that night. We camped 2 nights and did some long hikes. It brought back a mix of good and bad memories but I've decided to create new memories.
