Gene pushed Carlos Santana down some stairs?? Santana had a security team. They would have beat the shit out of him. Another tall tale from Gene Odom.

Gene, You are the Mean Machine Man, I met you in 1998 I think it was that year, I walked into the Entrance to the Arena and saw you, I saw some books , so i came over to your Table, You told me who you are and told me Stories for 30 Minutes, Plane Crash Survivor, Well not knowing who you were, I had No idea that Ronnie and You grew up together, and hired you as A Bodyguard, I had to buy your Book then, and you signed it, thank you Sir , it was A Honor, A Privilege And A Pleasure For the I spent with you, Then, I had to think about what you just told me, and go out and Hear the Tribute Tour Band, I still think about that Day My Friend, Cousin Figel

I know it was an Awesome Experience being with the band in their prime. Just alone, growing up with Ronnie & being best friends. The fishing trips they took. I could only imagine all the stories Gene could tell. I would like to hear some of the things he keeps inside that only he knows about. I know for sure he had his hands full with that group of guys. Trying to keep them sober.... lol . Just imagine hiding their booze. I bet they gave him hell over that stuff. Gene seems like a down to earth, stand up guy. I can see why RVZ wanted him with him.

That’s the thing that Gene always says that Ronnie’s wife called a band meeting and said it’s all over. She was never in the band. I guarantee that was the first meeting she ever called because. Since when did bandmembers wives ever rule over what a rock band does?

I live off of Lenox and Lane, grew up on Skynyrd and I would be honored to have a hand in the efforts you are making to preserve the legacy of these American Icons. How can I help? I have a wide range of skills, and live close enough I can help with gravesite maintenance, marketing, merch designs, video editing, social media/web development, ECT. Please let me know how I can be in contact.

God bless you Gene Odom, love hearing your stories about Lynyrd Skynyrd, you and Ronnie was blessed to have each other as friends, you don’t find that kind of friendship to often, I would love to meet you one day and take your tour of where Ronnie and the guys hung out, I’ve got to work harder to try and safe money, I move around kind of slow, I had back and neck surgery a few years ago and seems like it made it worse, but God bless and take care !

They were opening for Ted Nugent - He donated proceeds to 2 sold out shows at Madison Square Garden - in nov 77 - no one seems to know what happened to the $$ - imagine that - The survivors were still in the hospital - most of them were - The one person who had the authority hasn't been asked about this - to my knowledge - What happened to the $$

Mr. Odom is 100% correct when he said “I’d like to see that tribute band play some Johnny van Zant band or Blackfoot music and see how fast they get egged off the stage”. I think it’s a crying shame that medlocke prances around saying he is an original founding member. That boy never contributed nothing to the band at all. Matter of fact listen to his songs he sings on “First and Last Muscle Shoals” album and tell me I’m wrong. Those two songs were absolute garbage and sounds like he’s crying the whole time. Reminds me of a Neil young song. Ain’t nobody showing up ever to see Blackfoot. And if he was honest he’d admit that he’s just a talented player and does decent at covering Skynyrd music. I’m not a critic at all but here in Florence, Ala we take Skynyrd seriously and people better be smiling if they try to smear Ronnie’s name. There was no Skynyrd after Oct. 20, 1977! Gene is absolutely right on that. And let me add that we love Johnny for what he does. He seems to be a stand up guy all the way around.

Neil Young is from Canada, Skynyrd is from Fla, the only link they have to Alabama is the song, and Neil Young said it best in a interview when he referred to Charles Manson singing, he said quote "Hès a spewer of songs" i think that's what you meant when referencing Mr. Medlocke and his singing

Ronnie knew something was up where Gary was concerned, he didn't trust him towards the end and not sure how long before that but judging by the things Gene was just saying here it seems Ronnie's intuition was pretty spot on. Cant believe some of the things Gary said about the band the music and how easily he could betray Ronnie mind blowing.
