With this change to the chassis do you still get to keep the original plate need to get a q plate ..I once saw a stretched discovery the internet says it was 116inch
@All4Overland
@All4Overland 4 сағат бұрын
Hi...yes i will be keeping the original as its only like doing an ordinary chassis swap on a defender or a TD5 discovery....land rover actually made a 116 inch chassis for the range rovers to give them more leg room in the back...Land rover special vehicles actually cut the chassis and lengthened them in house.

Seeing as you have all the jigs made up, I’ll just drop my disco 1 off at your place for a chop and stretch cassis job. Aussies tend to do this with touring (overlanding) rigs then have to get them replated for the amount of weight they add. Loving this series.

A very small bit of constructive advice. PLEASE stop changing the name of your channel. It’s hard to find my way back to your channel after a name change. Also, if you do change it again make it your name or Teddy’s shed or something that stands out. There are more 4x4 and Overland channel then stars in the night sky. Plus you could then do non overland related stuff. I would quite happily watch you design and built furniture, a deck, or shop infrastructure stuff which would also help you bring in a broader sponsorship variety. None of this is meant to be negative, I just don’t want you to get lost in the crowd of off-road channels and I would like to find my way back to you videos when it’s been a couple weeks and I haven’t had any notifications that i recognize as your channel. Thank you very much for taking the time to share your knowledge and what projects you are working on.

Hi mate...first of all i am glad you are enjoying the content on the channel...but we have not changed the name of the channel for over a year as All4Overland is the name we are now happy with and will be keeping...the best way to keep up with the channel is to make sure you are still subscribed and click on the notification bell as we do try to put up a new video every week...and as for doing other things on the channel the way the algorythm works on youtube it would not let us do it as it would keep the videos virtually invisible and that is why we are sticking to the Overlanding and the truck builds...Regards Paul

With regards to your storage draw. Have you seen, Vanvault's, slim slider, S10880? I have one, and it has close to full extension without the use of draw slides. It may be worth looking at one to, dear I say copy and make something similar out of aluminium. I live in Leeds if you are unable to get to have a look at one.

@All4Overland unfortunately they are steel not aluminium. But it's the method they use to extend the draws I was thinking about. It would be easily repeatable. They have small bearing races to create the actual slide out mechanism.

Were the rock-sliders bought or fabricated? Just fitted a pair to my D2 and, honestly, I think bolting them to the sills is a bit questionable (although, TBH, they're really just intended to replace my rusty OEM sidesteps) but, if they bolted to the chassis, the outriggers would need to be like girders before they'd be more useful than the ones that bolt to the sills. I'm kind of interested to see how rock-sliders fit to things like Jeeps or Land Cruisers. Maybe the chassis rails on other vehicles are wider apart so there's less leverage on the sliders? It's not a big deal for me cos, as I said, I really just need them to work as sidesteps so I can reach the roof.
@All4Overland
@All4Overland 8 күн бұрын
Hi mate the rock sliders were a set that i bought that originally bolted to the sills but i think that is a terrible idea so i chopped that off and made them so they bolted to the outriggers as i don't need a set to be rocksliders as i need them to be a set of side steps for getting in and our of vehicle and up to the roof tent. so the next set are proably going to be aluminium and just be side steps to save weight.

Watched this a couple of days ago, but just happened across the latest Ed China video (ep 62) where they've dipped a range rover chassis over at Shropshire galvanisers. Really interesting insight in to the process and the extra bits they did to make sure the acid dip and galv all drained out correctly and took to the chassis. I imagine it'll be exactly the same process for yours so well worth a watch for anyone interested.
@All4Overland
@All4Overland 9 күн бұрын
Hi...we will be having ours dipped at Stoke galviers so not that far away from shropshire galviers but the process is exactly the same...the chassis will be acid dipped and then galvied. Like the one that Ed had done we have degreased it and had it shot blasted and drilled some extra drain holes where necessary...but it is really important to make sure there is no grease or paint left inside the chassis. I am actually half way through the video that Ed did so will have to finish watching it later...glad you enjoyed our video.

Hi Phil...we did look at using a 110 chassis but having to relocate the body mounts and everything else is very difficult without a two post lift...and the fuel tank location is not really an issue on a tray back and has the whole purpose of this build is to make the truck lighter we should not need the extra strength of a 110 chassis.

Its the factory ones I mean. The tie rods and the rubber bushes chassis side. You'll take them out when you get it galvanised. Try not to break them they are not cheep to replace. I built a longranger with full body off resto. Bloody forgot the SB mounts, didnt realise until way too late. i had to undo all the body mounts and lift the body 6'' just to squeeze them in. I even forgot the gaskets and plates body side. I thought I'd try save you the same fate. Good luck with the rebuild. Your truck inspired me to go through with my build. It became a life saving project. Literally but that's a whole other story.
