Thanks for the vid man. A few questions: - Do you still have the car? - How is/was your overall experience with it? - Would you recommend it? - Fuel consumption?

Hi, 2days ago brought a 2012 R56S, 156Kms. Having same issue, white smoke coming when engine is hot & idle. There's a slight oil leak near rocker covers ( no dripping to floor). I checked radiator for any air bubbles while running the engine, nothing observed. It has been recently serviced with new oil filter, air filter & spark plugs. That's all I know about the vehicle and I'm really worrying now. If I do a vehicle diagnostic test ( Quoted $175/hr.) from a local repair shop will it give correct directions? or what should I asked for mechanic? When I check the forums for similar issues lot suggested following, 1. Thermostat Replace 2. Liqui-Moly Resealer Engine Oil Treatment 3. Head Gasket Replacement 4. Turbo service 5. PCV system checked with pressure analysis I know nothing about vehicles, and can you tell me where to start?

I like the Abarths but the door handles are an easy fix but no 6 gear is annoying. The seat can be lowered a lot of aftermarket kits.

Hello MG Drive, This is Scott from Winter Park, Florida USA. It's the town just outside of the Orlando area. I agree with the previous comment about the awesome music track that you used! Hello am going to change the fuel filter on my 2009 R56 JCW Hatchback. The car is not firing up. It'll crank but not run. The in tank pump as not been priming when you unlock the car. But sometimes it will prime the fuel afterwards. So I am going to do the filter and check the pump out at the same time. Thank you for the great advice and insight into the fuel filter replacement. Cheers, Scott Thompson

Great Video ! I experienced great success using the aerosol version of SeaFoam. Simply use the elongated straw that comes with the can, and insert it AFTER the Mass Airflow Sensor, spray for 7 minutes, let sit for 20 minutes in anticipation of the smoke show (as you did). I used alot more SeaFoam than in this procedure. 20% to 25% of the SeaFoam remained in the can when finished. Best of luck with your Mini

I drive a Mini Cooper R50, and it came with Uniroyal SSR3 Run Flats. The roads in my area are not great - winding country roads. The car rattles a bit and ride is bumpy. But in terms of cornering The Uniroyals are pretty good and have served me well for two years. The two front tyres are pretty worn now, the back ones are not too bad. Now its time for a replacement and I am on the fence whether to go with same tyres again or try the Michelins for a bit more comfort. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah same here with my indicators. It's a Aussie delivered one as well, bought new Oct '21 and since the test drive, indicators were crapola. The one tough 3 blinks feature doesn't always work, the indicator doesn't always stay where it needs to be. Even at a red light turning, you look at it wrong and bang it turns off....def will bring it up at first service. Seats are high, I didn't get the Sabelts as there were only 81 cars available the entire year in all of Oz, we don't have the biggest choice and when push came to shove, it had everything else I wanted so. But you get used to the height, for the time being anyways. Fuel tank doesn't bother me, I drive it every now and again if that. Was bought to be a weekend cars so that aspect doesn't bother me. Cruise control not an issue either due to not driving it for any significant distance ever, but I'm sure I'd miss it. Have another car that has adaptive cruise, drives itself, so we'd use that for trips. Great video though.

Hi, we have really similar taste in cars. Without ever seeing your channel. Back in 2016 I purchased a Chili Red 2012 R56 JCW, it was damaged from a wildlife collision which I rebuilt. I then started looking at the Abarth’s. I ended up purchasing a used 2016 500C Fiat Abarth in yellow for Christmas a few years ago. I was wondering how you would adjust to the Fiat after owning a Mini. Here is my thoughts the mini is built better, the way the shifter feels , the ride is better, the audio, and wins in almost every department. However the Abarth is quite a different car in the way the power comes on and all the noise it makes. The 500C (convertible) version makes the exhaust all so much better. I’ve learn how to make mine Pop on 1st to Second Gear shifts, it’s such a unique car. It’s not a daily driver, in fact it’s harsh it’s uncomfortable. Its bad on gas, it’s really expensive to buy new. My goodness they are up there in price for what you get. So where does that leave things? A good Sport daily that can do it all, or buy a used Abarth and a comfortable daily? Everything used is sky rocketed in price lately. If I were in you shoes I’d be looking at Audi TT RS, have you seen what these are pushing with a tune? Or if you could afford an Alfa Guillia Quadrifolio? Those are on my next cars to get list. I still own both the Mini and Abarth, if you are ever in Canada you are welcome to drive them.

Sorry you’ve let the Abarth go but totally understand and respect the decision. For me my Abarth is a weekender and as my daily (90km round trip) I have a Hybrid Corolla. Two cars at opposite ends of the spectrum. Can’t fault the Corolla for comfort, practicality and fuel economy. Average 3.6L/100. Can’t go wrong with those numbers. Good luck with whatever you do next Mark.

Great video mate. I found all the same issues from a test drive, totally agree, even the indicator stalks felt super cheap and did the same thing. In the process of trying to get one. Wondering where you got yours? I'm relegated to McCarrolls Fiat in Artarmon, and they are horrendous....but don't see anything really else. I'm assuming by what I could see you have NSW plates, I think. Any advice appreciated. And the standard seat, I believe from my test drive, are on the adjustment is on the insides of the seats, I think 😬

Don't turn it by hand, use a bump starter switch. Trust me I do this for a living. With a bump starter switch you can turn the engine over with the press of a button, while monitoring the valves. You will know when they are closed because there will be no more movement. Indicating that cylinder is either on the compression stroke, or the exhaust stroke. Once you place the cylinder, disconnect the battery and work without fear of causing a short circuit. When you are done with one cylinder, tape it off, reconnect the battery, and bump the starter until the next cylinder has the valves closed. Repeat for the remaining cylinders.
