I changed a number of cylinders in bean fields. Sometimes just took the plugs out of the bad one so it could be flown back to the strip. After changing a cylinder in the field one day during run up I discovered a mag was out. Pilot said he didn't want to wait for me to go get another one and he'd just fly it home. Guess what went out on the way home? Yep, the other mag. He wrecked it trying to put it down. West Memphis area in the 80's.

I never flew in an Ag-Cat, but I spent two years dusting cotton in a Stearman. That was in the early 1960's in southern Missouri and Arkansas. This Cat needs a lot of work before it takes to the sky again.

That is one sweet truck! I didn't think you had the option of getting a Cat 3208 with the loadstars. I could be wrong, though.
@jasonvalleyag1520 Жыл бұрын
I think it was a very limited amount of trucks they did like that
@WarFrog9358 ай бұрын
You couldn't, the reason it's in it is because loadstars have a huge hood so engine swappers realized that they could fit anything under it. You could probably fit a 8V71 Detroit Diesel in there, I've seen ones with a 6-71 and 4-53T Detroit Diesel in it.
@RyanTripp1978T8 ай бұрын
@@WarFrog935 I have seen a few engine swaps you mention. There is plenty of space under those hoods. I understand that during the last year of the loadstar, they did offer the DT466 in them.

I have often wondered what these old machines would have been like with a turbo character and forced air of after cooler. Never had the opportunity to run one but have watched them with a KG clearing blade. They was as good as they came.
