The greatest set of JD startups! Here in SA (south Australia) we dont see the cold temps that these startups do but the sound is the same. That starter motor struggling, then the gurgling (for want of a better word) of the motor trying to spin quicker, stumbling and stumbling under its own compression ignition only to rise ever so triumphantly into a flat idle without a miss is something to behold. (Aware of the way a JD injection pump works on first start up) My father had a 4430 that would start even at 4 Celsius and would bumble into life like these. A series of sounds ill never forget! Cheers!

Why do they surge right before the turbo spools up? Unburned fuel burning off?

Maybe a rag instead of letting the fuel drip all over your farm? Just MOP! My filters are put directly into a container while catching the contamination! Otherwise 👍

Cases are good if you have to go out to the field to do a repair just grab the case and chuck it in the Ute way you go. If your just in the workshop I’d take them out of the cases and put the cases in storage don’t through them out

Working on our 4430...new interior upholstery also. However my question is about the canopy. Cannot see on your tractor......on both sides of cab there is a screen that is broken and so is the frame around the screen. Contemplating replacing the canopy, but is there a repair kit for that screen area? No other damage to canopy or cab top, just the screen. Are you familiar with what I am referring to?
