Hey Taevis!! Love the videos, just recently discovered your channel and the breakdowns are incredible from the dissection of the issues to the great demo how to correct and the way you explain is easy to digest and understand. Keep up the great work! I was wondering if you could do a video or have any info on a progression type format for a new rider that’s interested in getting into the park. Like what to work on and in what order?

Hello taevis. First, thank you so much for your videos it is really helpfull for progression. I wanted to share something I realised this week. When you do your set up carve, for a regular front 180 or 360, when you first get on your toe edge your generate a momentum to the right, then before take off you go on your heel edge : at first I used to move my bodyweight to try to go to the left (like you do when carving, even a very small carve) - now I only try to counter the first momentum of the setup carve so that I stay stacked during the take off. And the equilibrium position you have is very short (1 sec maybe) and subtle - if you counter balance to much on your heel you start to go left and you zeetch the take off - if you dont counter enough you can catch your toe edge. I think one way to illustrate is your stack position example : you show it from the side of the board but you should also show it from behind - it would be the equivalent of an airplane roll axis . If you could make a video to illustrate that (very hard to explain it with words sry) it would help a lot of people I guess. Thx again and I wish you the best from france

Good point! I’ll try break this stuff down:)
@Rekaw97Ай бұрын
What about front arm being so low when rotating on takeoff? Doesn't this put you off axis? I do the same thing and I land tail heavy, so I wonder if that could be what's causing it.
@Taevis-KapalkaАй бұрын
So the arms themselves aren’t a big issue, it’s more your shoulders. You don’t want your shoulders to be dipping. Arms can be a good indicator, but aren’t very significant by themselves.
@Rekaw97Ай бұрын
@@Taevis-Kapalka Thank you, it seems to be the issue. With all your videos, I'm so close to getting them as steezy as I want them to be. Keep up the amazing work buddy ❤️

First time hearing bringing your arm down at the end of the rotation for a smoother landing. I got to try that
@Ascalis1Ай бұрын
First off, you're the fucking man. Secondly I noticed that the instant your head came around on the bs3 your eyes seemed to be on the landing zone around past the knuckle. Is that the same spot you'd lock your eyes for 180 or a little past?

Taevis, these video breakdowns are super thoughtful and super helpful. You are a born teacher!
@Taevis-KapalkaАй бұрын

@HatBuddyWearsHatsАй бұрын
Do you have tips on how to progress from doing these (front3, back3) on smaller jumps into bigger jumps like in your videos? Doing them on smaller jumps, I have to spin faster to get it around, but I find it hard to actually see the when I'm rotating, and then I don't have the confidence to take it to bigger jumps.
@Taevis-KapalkaАй бұрын
I can make a video on it. Your mistakes are definitely gonna be body position based and not power based tho
@matthewcheung5136Ай бұрын
Why does everyone seem to get on edge too early? Does getting on edge at the spoon of the jump not feel natural for beginners?
@Taevis-KapalkaАй бұрын
It just comes from rushing things. When people are learning they are nervous what makes them want to rush the process
@jonnyradarsАй бұрын
Could you elucidate what does "pulling into a spin" mean? Thanks for another awesome technical vid!

Means pulling yourself in tight, towards the axis you are spinning on.

I've only spun 3s, but i find landing blind a lot easier. I prefer front 3s over back 3s because of that. Your advice on spotting helps a lot. Would you be down to do a breakdown on the opposite of blind landings? So back 3s, front 5s, etc
@Taevis-KapalkaАй бұрын

Next season you should try to film from both sides of the jump. The best would actually have 2 filmers, one on each side of the jump, then splice the footage together, so when one camera is at your back you can cut to the other angle. I mean I know that's alot to ask for, but you have the best coaching tips out there already. Just an idea. Thanks for all your free tips.

Dang that was heavy! Have you ever actually hit your head recently? I see you took it to the face but has your helmet ever saved you? Recently… I don’t wear one and get shamed for it…
@Taevis-KapalkaАй бұрын
Didn’t hit my head here, just a bit of a love tap on the cheek. I’ve had a few cases were my helmet has helped me, but I usually only hit my head 1 time a year. Tho depending how you ride this number can be a lot more. I’d always recommend wearing a helmet, because if you do get unlucky you can get fucked. Most of the time it’s chill, but it only takes 1 mistake you know
