Very nice job! The smaller sections were a great call. I just did a 10x10 slab with that big mixer solo. It was a huge mistake for me to try such a big area at once. Trying to manage the mixing, the transporting, and the finishing within the cement working time was a problem. Definitely a 2 or even 3 person job. I intend to do more, but I'll be splitting it into smaller, more manageable sections for sure.
@AJDIYNetwork23 күн бұрын
I wish I had more help, but unfortunately everyone is far and few. Doing sections was much easier, but still laborious. After the driveway is complete, I still Have to lay more concrete slab for a bbq island idea. Good luck with your project. Keep me posted :)

Did you investigate using metal mesh vs rebar?
@AJDIYNetwork26 күн бұрын
Mesh would have worked , but using rebar was my better option. Because I poured concrete in sections, I wanted all the slabs connected with each other. However, if you get a cement truck to pour the whole slab at once, then mesh would have been the better option.

Why do you use 2 fitters
@AJDIYNetwork26 күн бұрын
There are actually three filters. Each one filters different size particles. If I were to use just one, the it would clog up more and quickly. By having three or possibly even more, this extends the life of the filters.
@ralphwhitaker876128 күн бұрын
I install the filter, the arrow is pointing on the direction of my well, i let the faucet open the whole time, after finish everything, i dont see no water flowing inside the filter, like you are showing, am i doing anything wrong? Thanks

It sounds like you installed it in reverse. The arrow should be pointing in the direction of the water flow to the house. Not to the well. Let me know if this helps. Otherwise send me a pic of your setup.

WHAT'S the reason for using the STEEL Bars and wiremesh on Concretes(when pouring the cement into it) ??
@AJDIYNetworkАй бұрын
It basically keeps the entire slab as a single unit structurally and gives added support.
@AndTheCorrectAnswerIsАй бұрын
I poured my 16x24ft shop floor in sections like you did, only I drilled rebar holes in the finished slabs to extend rebar into the next slab. I used a Harbor Freight concrete mixer to mix two 60 lb bags at a time. It was labor intensive...but saved me about $9K over what I was quoted by a concrete company. 15yrs later, and the floor is still in great shape.

How much gravel did you use unless I missed it? Do you always have to have slope towards or away? For example, I have a concrete porch, when I redo it does it have to slope slightly to the left or right of the house? What % or measurement away? Same thing with a parking pad beside house should it slope to the left or right? Do I need a french drain on either to improve drainage?
@AJDIYNetworkАй бұрын
Hello. And thank you for watching. I used approximately 2 inches of gravel give or take. The rest is concrete. As for the slope, I don’t think you need a French drain. It’s just added work if you decide to make one. My goal Was to keep the slope away from the house. You don’t want water draining towards the house as is may affect your foundation to the house. As for percentage, I am sure there is a specific number, but I basically used the same level and made sure the bubble was touching the line to the area I am sloping. Although very subtle, I know the water, if and when it does happen(remember, it’s under the carport) it will drive the water AWAY from the house or foundation. I hope this helps.

pouring slabs by hand is really hard work, back in the islands, men mix mortar by hand, pour and form all by manual labor, till this day dont know how they do it like that.
