SPONER HAS seen it all and is deservedly in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. There are dozens in the Hall of fame who DON'T belong there but SPONER ISN'T ONE OF THOSE!

PBR? The progressives embrace you, so they can make you their pet. Control that “ free” speech! It’s sad that good musicians succumb to this

The story of the band The Civil Wars makes me sad idk why
@KnockManJo

Probably because they had something magical and then the spell faded, for me personally it's a beautiful kind of sadness; appreciating that a duo like that even happened out of nowhere
@alexea2324
@alexea2324 3 жыл бұрын
KnockManJo no it’s not that. Come to realize it’s because of the tragic ending before they even really started. It’s like watching a genius die before they got a chance to max their full potential.

Great musicians! Great humans! Greatest respect to them all. And the entire Rick Hall organization. You created the music of my youth, and inspired me to be a musician. Thank you all!

For sure. Spooner laid the foundation for "I Never Loved A Man" with the opening chords on the Wurlitzer. Everything fell together from there, with Aretha on acoustic piano.

Music changes people. It changes the world! There was real progress until Mr Obama politicized everything & took our country back to the bad old days. He was groomed for the part & fulfilled it. God will judge.

Back in the '50's, '60's, and '70's, it was just about impossible to be a Southern white musician without some of the music and feeling of the old Southern Black Gospel spirituals taking root in the soul. Just about every Southern guitar player worth anything learned to play the Blues before just about anything else. As a kid I used to listen to a Black Blues guitarist every Saturday morning on the street corner downtown on my way to the five and dime store. That's how these four white guys that made the rhythm section at Muscle Shoals playing behind Percy Sledge, Wilson Pickett, and Aretha Franklin already knew what those Black singers were about.

I just got through listening to Red Mourning Sky on Myspace. It's fun to go from that to this and see how you both have matured in your artistic creations. They say friends come and go. Fuck that. There's a handful of people in this world- outside of family- that I would fucking die for. James Blankenship and Cory Pennington are two people in that handful. You two have a passion for your arts. Keep making the world better with your work. I love you dudes.
