If you mean death's dance, just think of it like this If you take 1000 physical damage it will deal 35% of it as true damage over 3 seconds This means u will only take roughly 700 physical instead of 1000 and 100 true damage every second The idea is: that it reduces the one-shot potential from physical damage and gives you more time to kill your opponent and heal up So it's really good against AD assassins like Zed and khazix But don't get any ideas of buying it on squishy champions like ADCs cause you still need enough health to survive the initial damage So it's only good for fighters

This highlight from older gameplay on patch 4.3b I was using a slightly different build from what is showing (which is the best current build in most games) So you should start with Riftmaker if you are against tanky champions like in this game I was against Rammus and Tank Yasuo (if you watch the gameplay you will see I couldn't do anything to Rammus before getting Riftmaker) If you are not against tanks get Luden's echo since you don't need the true damage from the rift maker Also if you are against catch comb you should start with Crown you won't get caught with that lux q or ahri e for example. So for a summary first item should be either Riftmaker, Luden's Echo, or Crown Then death cap and infinity orb ofc, the last 2 items depend on the game, and whatever the first item you choose

@@BeNewChallenger why do u not suggest Liandry instead of riftmaker? Riftmaker only deals 9% true dmg of ur post mitigation damage dealt. It means if ur opponents has a lot MR meanwhile vex's abilities dont deal % HP dmg (gets decreased by MR) then she only deals mediocre dmg/tiny. Then riftmaker only convert its 9% dmg dealt. So riftmaker is not effective. Also u need to stand about 4 secs till this true dmg effect activates In the other hand Liandry deals DPS % HP dmg that also scaling with ur max AP. I think vs tanks Liandry is better option for mages. Idk but i feel like riftmaker is made for AP bruiser/ battlemages that can stay longer in teamfight not for burst mage like vex.

Ok yes in theory Liandry does deal more damage but I was in one of those long games struggling against tanks as usual I thought like you I should buy Liandry to kill them but I didn't notice any difference in my damage but then I sold it and bought Riftmaker now they didn't stand a chance (I still could be wrong I only tried it once tbh) Another thing Liandry doesn't have ability haste which you really need if you are gonna get AP/Mana boot So you can't get it as first and you shouldn't anyway tbh cause no one has a lot of Health in the early game but they still have MR So that's why I just go for Riftmaker first
