Please be cautious I'm being attacked by a spiritual guillotines and I saw your video so they may attack you for no cause. If you have any advice on how to prevent spiritual attacks I could use it.

I've improved on this effect. Initially I'd always found it to be a bit of a lame trick, and only used it for children's magic. But what I do now, is have two additional props that have the same layout front and back. And I hand the first one out for examination and then switch it out for the gimmicked Hot-Rod. And then when I do the effect, I switch out the gimmick for the second prop which is totally examinable.

The intermediate part comes in mastering the paddle move, but the illusion would work if someone called a decibel, and you'd have to do a little math.

A good way of doing this effect is as a mentalism routine by combining it with 6 playing cards (1-6). You then force the corresponding playing card before revealing the dice. If you wanted to, you can also force the dice number by having a separate plastic canister in your back pocket, extracting it and then doing a shuttle pass to swap it in for the spectator's canister.

Show the blade as close up as you showed the other pieces. That’s kinda the important part. And most likely to be gimmicked.

Unless the wholesaler (Wild & Wolf) has a different company with a different name in the UK, not only is this product discontinued, but the entire Ridley‘s Magic line of products was discontinued at least a couple years ago, as they confirmed via an email to me at the time. In fact, the company’s website is no longer there. If you have info I don’t, please reply with an applicable link. I suspect you saw it for sale by a distributor that happens to still have stock. But as far as I know, Ridley’s Magic products are, sadly, no longer being made and will eventually be gone once the remaining stock is sold. If I’m right, at least some of the Ridley’s tricks will be collectible.

Thank you for this tutorial Tom! I've been wanting to start magic as a hobby but I dont have the necessary skills to properly manage the cards, found this video which is exactly what I need so I'll be practicing and first trying to master things like shuffling before moving to slight of hand because being sneaky is probably harder when I cant even handle the cards properly

Ellie, it’s so great you’re starting to study magic. Developing basic skills with a deck will definitely help you to master card tricks and moves much easier. Thanks so much for watching. I’m glad the video has been useful. Good luck with your practicing. I’d love to hear about your progress if you have time to comment in the future.

You can also do the trick differently by telling them to put their chosen number face down. All opposite sides of a die equals 7. So if they choose a 2 and put it face down and you 'see' a 5, you know it's a 2. I think that would be more effective as you definitely cannot 'see' anything from the bottom. 😉

Squint your eyes where your eyes can't see all the detail, imagine her spinning the other way, slowly open. Just keep doing that because your brain will just see what it wants out of what it's given.

I call BS. Sorry, but there are very clearly indicators on how she is spinning. The extended foot's shadow moves from right to left in a slight arc, indicating that the foot is closer to the viewer towards the center (verifiably clockwise). The bent arm also rotates in an ellipsis, going low from right to left and high from left to right. The angle of the ellipsis would indicate that the arm is closer as it is rotating from right to left when compared to the rest of her body's position (again, only possible in clockwise rotation). I really wish I could ignore this, but it is impossible. How could she possibly be spinning in both directions?
@resinfingers3896

Lmao, I thought this too when I couldn't do it. There's no indicators, which is why half people see it left or right. Look at the video that shows seeing it left and right side by side. They are identical
@patricknoll81

@@resinfingers3896 I will look for this video that you speak of, but I would need a lot more explanation about that shadow specifically. Light doesn't work like that, so if the foot were moving in a totally different direction, so would the shadow.
@patricknoll81
@patricknoll81 8 ай бұрын
@@resinfingers3896 I saw the video that you spoke of. I have to admit, it does make it easier to process how the brain would see it like that, but the shadow still wouldn't work that way without forcing it. Still I have to give it more credit than I originally did.

One way I got it to work almost every time is by skipping back and forth in the video, so she starts at different positions. When her outer leg is on the right side and starts going downwards, it triggers the counter clockwise spin for me.

But this is not a real optical illusion. There is a right direction, and a wrong one. Her face is visible when her front is facing you, and the back of her head is visible when facing away. Due to the direction of her feet, she is ONLY spinning clockwise. People that CAN see her spinning the other way are imperceptive and dumb. You literally have to turn off brain cells to see her rotate differently. All the people in the comments claiming they can switch back and forth are either lying to seem capable, or dumb enough to be able to miss the CLEAR indicators of the true direction of movement. You aren’t cool, or adaptive, or better in any way if you can see her spinning counter clockwise. Quite the opposite. Huge L to the OP and all the nitwits in the comments here.
@resinfingers3896

Lol, someone's mad they couldn't do it. The reason it works (for most of us) is because there's no indicators. Watch the video that shows how it's done with the left spin and right spin side by side. It has to do with our perception when first seeing it, half of us right and half of us left

Ok i know this is a million years old. At first i could only see it going clockwise...then after i reloaded the video and i thought i was going crazy and i saw her going counter clockwise but couldnt fix it back. Then i started to learn how to trick track it from counterclockwise back to clockwise but not the other way around.... without rapidly stopping the video which would then switch it back to counterclockwise....
