That's like my musical director on my first ship. "Read it down like it looks!" If you had your own channel; it would be easy to check each day!

Sadly, they're rich, and he's not. Guess the crashing is what people wanted.

umm, yeah. Well, I take it you don't know who this Master is...?
@iaintfraidofnowoke8 сағат бұрын
@yonickyg9719 the ones getting paid. You can know everything about what you do, but the ones who bombed the cymbals in the 70s got the money. Buddy Rich never bombed the cymbals, but he never made the money John Bonham did in a year with Led Zeppelin. There's those that teach and those that do.

I am a nobody guitarist from Texas, and a number of years ago, I played a handful of gigs for an artist who is a mutual friend of mine and Derek’s. (Derek was already very well known as a bad ass number one guy and had recorded a lot of the guitar for the album our mutual artist friend was playing to support.) Derek was at a lot of the shows and at one point, even filled in on bass duties. At no point whatsoever was he anything but kind, supportive, and one of the dudes. Never talked down to anyone, no “big time“ energy. I had the pleasure of watching him play live with Charlie Worsham (another monster musician and guitarist) and Derek’s ability to seamlessly and authentically move from style to style with as close to perfect technique on the instrument as you can l, was just mind blowing. In years past, I worked with a couple of other “big” guitar names who didn’t have an ounce of his humanity and humility but are out there doing clinics and promoting signature gear and “presenting” as the nicest fellas around. So happy to see him getting love, he’s as genuine as they come.

Bucovac nailed it, of course it could not have been done without the SG guitar and a lot of talent.

I’m surprised Tom didn’t name drop here. At least he did wear his own shirt, in keeping with his ego problem.

Tom is one of the most underrated guitarists of our time. Fact. So many hundreds of millions of people have heard him play but they don't have a clue it's him. Easily belongs in ANY Top 100 guitar players of all-time list. Easily. You don't get to be THE 1st call session guy by being no good. Another part of that is the chill. Tom grooves with anyone and everyone. You can't be disliked and be a session player that's in demand. Doesn't matter if you're the best in your town. If you don't get along well with others, they won't EVER call you. I'd say that's probably almost as important as being able to play anything.

Duane Allman was incredible but they say he played slide out of tune a lot. I bet he did. Didn't matter. He was still the greatest guitar player that ever lived.

That's also why working alone is not such a good idea. You need other people's ears to guide the recording process. I wish when I'm recording at home that I had a producer/engineer on the other side of the glass letting me know exactly how things really sound.

An important lesson on intention and the power of revisions but unfortunately not much meat where the topic of layering is concerned. That being said, maybe the lesson is about pulling out the magic from each layer and not being too concerned about cleanness or overlap. Glad I watched either way
