What are you using to measure those groups? I use a digital caliper to measure my groups, and I measure from the centers of the two most distant holes. The reason I ask is because those groups look WAY bigger than what you've measured them to be.

I measure center to center as well. The reason it looks further apart is because the holes are so small with a 17 hmr

Cool video, thanks. I also am a born and raised Phx. boy. I did live in Dallas Ft. Worth for about 5 years because of work, but I live back in the Surprise area now. Used to go out to I10 and Miller Road, but some girl got killed by a stray bullet and now they have big cement blocks over the dirt road so you can't get a standard vehicle through anymore. I have to go a little further out now, but still, plenty of public desert land to go shooting. Maybe I'll see ya at one of the indoor ranges sometime. God bless bro.
@DesertLongRange5 ай бұрын
Hey Sky, thanks for the comment. Down where I live they are turning everything into a solar farm. What indoor ranges do you go to?
@skyym36295 ай бұрын
@@DesertLongRange I live in Surprise so there are many ranges in the Phx. area. I take from your comment that you kinda live out in the sticks (I envy you so much). Hopefully, one day soon, I will be able to semi-retire and live where my closest neighbor is no closer than a 1/4 mile from my property line. Shooters World has a few stores with really nice indoor ranges. Then there is Ben Avary outdoor range where you can shoot skeet or a different section up to 100 meters and then they have a long range area that is 1000 meters for long range. Another range out between Buckey and Gila Bend is pretty nice. I actually prefer to just go out in the desert and shoot with a small mountain for my backstop. Hope that helps. God bless bro.
@DesertLongRange5 ай бұрын
I have been to Ben Avery a few times, specifically for the Expo they hold yearly. I have been wanting to do some skeet shooting and the closest facility to me is the Rio Salado Sportsman's Club. So I will probably work my way over there eventually. But you are right I do live out in the sticks for the most part, it has it advantages and disadvantages just like everywhere else though.

Not bad for just starting. Key thing to keep in mind. Your tone will assist with stopping the air flow. When you say hut or gut in the call. The T is the finish of the word and when the flow of air should stop to make single notes. Without the call say hut and notice your tongue is at the roof of your mouth and you should feel the air from your diaphragm run out. Emphasize on the T and practice stopping the air flow. Never puff your cheeks use your gut. Then bring the ball back in and practice with it. Good luck. It takes time. I hear terrible calling on a regular basis. Until you get it. Do not use a call while hunting. One call that can be very successful is a lone hen call. It’s three notes. Loud medium soft. HUT Hut hut. Start listening for it or google it. It’s basic but can be effective with many species of ducks. Good late season call as well
@DesertLongRange6 ай бұрын
Thank you so much. I literally broke the call out and practiced exactly what you said and it worked out good, especially to annoy my wife haha she sent me outside to practice. I have also been working on my feeder call using the work "tika" and lose cadence if I lose focus. I know that one will make me work for it as well. I am having a lot of fun practicing though and can't wait to call in my first duck.

@@DesertLongRange i like thumbhole stocks is bergara wilderness thumbhole and b14hmr any different in terms of accuracy?
@DesertLongRange6 ай бұрын
@@kristijanmedved6066 Bergara makes all their own barrels and they have proven to be a very accurate rifle. The wilderness with the thumbhole stock appears to have a similar profile barrel but it is focused on being lighter weight so the barrel is fluted and 2" shorter. I am sure there is also weight saved in the stock and they were able to drop 2 pounds from the B14 HMR weight. I would expect this rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor to shoot very well.
