Hey sir!! I pruned my seedling and it grew another shoot straight up and a small branch under it ha!! So it’s still getting tall and skinny. Should I prune it on top again? Or let it rock?

I discovered, accidentally, that a grow-light on the under side and stem is causing growth out of the nodes. It appears that every node is getting a leaf! I have lights above also.

Hey Ngidi! This may be the topic of a full video in the future! This happens from time to time - I’ve had it a couple of times :) Sometimes seeds germinate early - still on the fruit. But it’s not a problem! You can just put it in soil, or water with toothpicks, and it should continue to grow - but it’ll get going faster than if it were an ungerminated seed. ☺️ Feel free to send me pics! [email protected]

I initially potted on avocado trees with the seeds sat atop the soil and roots buried. They lived and grew. After a year a video said they should be buried so I added more of my soil mix reluctantly burying the seeds. They're still alive and well at 2.5 years old.

I have two avocado trees grown from seed without cocktail sticks.. just seeds left in water and changing water regularly. The trees are in 5l pots and water trays with my soil mix of clay pebbles at the base, peat compost and perlite. They are healthy indoors in the UK and I've pruned above the node as they got too tall. How many years before they fruit? I have seven others of varying heights and branches grown from seed too.

For flying insects (gnats), the easiest and most fun solution for me has been Butterworts/Pinguicula plants. They are carnivorous plants with sticky dew (not the ones with little mouths). They trap and absorb any flying insects. They are super easy to grow, since they want permanently wet soil, which means never having to guess how much or when to water. They also have very pretty and abundant flowers (some of mine never stop flowering). I just have a few nestled between groups of plants and I can count the amount of gnats I've seen flying around in a year time on one hand. Notes on care: they prefer distilled water which is available in most grocery stores (also used for clothes irons), higher humidity gives them more dew, they like sunlight. Drosera/sundew plants function basically the same. These are slightly less effective for small gnats but do look spectacular especially when they have big dew droplets which are gorgeous (again: high humidity). Hope anyone with flying insects try them out!

I made three of these did this two years ago with 2 meter high poles for my pothos. Since they hold so much water, what I do is fill them up, then put a large filled bottle upside down on the top, to which slowly drains over half an hour while the moss soaks everything up. It would take about 5 days to a week for the pole to dry up again so very low maintenance. The pothos went from small cuttings to the length of the pole (if I didn't wrap them around, which I did). They anchored themselves with aerial roots that regularly were over 30cm long. The result was leaves multiple times larger than any hanging pothos. Sadly everything died, probably because I used a humidifier without providing a fan or ventilation. Time for round 2!

I have branches but they all god straight up so I am slowly bending them with a flexible metal string and floss ( the gummyness of it allow me to not tie it tight but still keep it securely attached to itself) The branches are quite flexible so i am just bending them, hope that they keep that shape and dont just look like a fork. It it right next to the most sunny window in my house, it's an est facing window ( house is straight facing west est, we have not window south or north) and it is still shooting straight up like a fork. The stem is still green and a bit smaller then an hdmi cord. There are multiple leafs at the bottom half then like 10 cm of nothing and boom ankther patches of multiple leaves and new branches since i cutted it.

Systemic pesticides are banned in some countries, for a good reason. I don't have respect for any country that doesn't have them banned.

Think they were always cold tolerant. They were grown in the mountains of Central Mexico. Which because of elevation is very different from the tropical lowlands. If the Incas also grew them the Andes were even colder in spite of being right on the equator.
