I had a 100K house just before the pandemic in 2019 and in 2022 the price shot up to 300K for a 3-2-2 1500 sqft; the prices need to come down or my pay need to triple or quadruple

What about the quality of the built new homes? Are the materials and all what's included into building of the new houses being considered as good as the the materials of the good ones? I mean you might think that with all of those discounts of the new houses the constractors kinda have "cut off somewhere of something" to stay competetive on the house market? Or it's kinda easy to check the real quality of the new houses with the help of someone else's payed help? Sorry if I'm going with that the way you wouldn't prefer me to. Just wondering around and I thank you for sharing your thoughts, it's always interesting and helpful to listen to someone who's actually "being boiled" in house market kitchen.

They are all generally the same due to aggressive building codes. Comes down to floorplan and finish work. Then hardscape details. Builder grade appliances and cabinets galore, even at $2M. All windows have issues within 10 years. Gotta have sprinklers. Only differences are if there is a pool in the backyard. Closed cell foam encapsulated homes are the most comfortable in all extreme conditions. New homes aren't without problems but even existing homes with roofs older than 5 years have a hard time getting insured. Every home is different, and new construction is always a gamble as lots keep getting smaller, homes keep getting closer together, and traffic gets worse in newer areas. The shortcuts come when builders cut back on "standard" features like granite counters, closet storage systems, home automation like wired shades, etc. Solar is required in Austin. Insulated garage doors and door openers - shortcut city! Wood finish trim replaced with mdf. Crappy bathroom tile jobs? Sham paint jobs? Carpet stairs instead of hardwood? I will look around.

I have the 2024 xc60 recharge ultimate edition and I love it. I do want to correct one thing about your review . I'm not sure what the concern or complaint is the infotainment system. I'm an Android user and I have no need for Android auto because the car does everything I need to do. I don't think it's confusing at all that there's no Android auto because the car literally serves as your phone. Google maps is seamlessly integrated with voice commands, so Tell it where I want to drive and it tells me how to get there. I get all the Google maps functionality on the center screen while my turn-by-turn directions show up on the driver's console and also on the heads-up display. I can tell The car what I want to listen to, I can change the temperature, I can add additional stops on my route , find the closest gas station, etc all with my voice. The only things I don't really like about the car is there's no integrated sunglasses holder, no cell phone charger built in, although there are two USBC ports, and really no good place to put your phone. Other than that, I'm extremely happy with it. I've had it for almost 2 months and have used less than 2 gallons of gas by my estimate. Electric motor driving me around town in pure mode is getting me 42 to 44 mi on a charge which is much higher than the specs indicated. 6:42

I understand that Android works that way but as a press car, I don't want to login via Google and forget to undo all that when I hand the car back. Now, if I let someone borrow my car, my "stuff" is all there - previous addresses, favorites, etc. And I fear this because once I received the XC90 with the Androis system and a previous journalist was logged in and even though I was driving the car, it SYNCED their latest Google maps history while I had the car - so even though I was driving, I knew where that journalist went every day. That's a huge issue!

so your saying just insurance and land tax is average 60k a year which is roughly 5k a month?, them you have a mortgage on top of that. Middle class could not afford that, they probably don't earn that much. Then you have electricity, water, food, maintenance.

On a $2M home, yes. On a "typical home" you'll see at least $5k/yr for insurance and $9k/yr for property tax. Over $1k/month which means even if you have a 2% mortgage rate, the insurance and taxes gets added to your monthly payment. Even if you have a fixed rate, the house payment will go up. Imagine if they did a repo on your car because you got a speeding ticket and your insurance went up and is built into your car payment.... you can pay the normal car payment but the insurance makes it too gard to pay. It won't matter - miss a few payments due to higher insurance and they will come take your car. And imagine if you have a 0% car loan and you've had the car for 2 years. Let's say your payment was $600, but now insurance is $250... and added to that car payment.

When my aunt bought her house in the early 2000's, it had so many problems she had to deal with through the years, stemming from the build quality, and her house was built in the 90's. The neighbors had to deal with similar issues. I can't imagine how low the quality of today's mass produced houses are. The façade may look good, but what you can't see would worry me. My house was built in the 60's, it's solidly built house with good materials, they must have built them differently back then.

Supra cost almost $60,000. That is 2 times the cost of the 2024 Mx-5 Sport soft top. Also the Supra is way more costly to insure & maintain ! The MX-5 is easy to work on & do your own oil changes. The Supra has a BMW engine & the BMW technicians don't want to work on it because everything but the engine is Toyota. The Toyota technicians don't want to work on it because its got a BMW engine ! Where are going going to get your Supra fixed ?

If you can do a topside oil change, you'll never have to step foot in another car dealer service department. The B58 in the Supra is better than the Subaru engine in the 86. I doubt Toyota dealers are going to turn down jobs when they can hardly sell cars now.

Yeah I'm old, but my family never had a car with AC when I was growing up. It was a luxury for rich people. So I have to laugh that you complain that the back seat of a small car doesn't have AC vents. 🤣🤣 You are right that the upper trim levels are over priced but the LE is a bargain. The only complaint you make that concerns me is the bad aim of the windshield wiper spray. The base model is better than the other cars you mentioned because of better mileage for $30K.
