I am actually surprised how nice you were able to get the Harsh Reality Pearl to work for you on the house shot. Based off the specs, I assumed it would be too much core and too much cover, but I guess I was wrong! It definitely shows though that getting the surface right for 1) you as an individual bowler and 2) the lane conditions you're on makes such a big difference, doesn't it? A few weeks ago I drilled an Attention Star and found it was a bit too clean and too flippy for me out of the box, but once I just cracked the polish a little with a 2000 pad to give it a little more traction while keeping most of the polish on, it absolutely came to life. It started shaping the way I wanted, reading the midlane while still really coming off the spot hard, and I've been striking a ton with it.

The Harsh Realty and Pearl are too strong for me on house. When I do videos for the stronger asymmetric pieces I try to film on the fresh house shot when the bowl opens. I don’t have a lot of balls with the polish still on then. With all the different conditions I bowl on polish doesn’t give me a predictable ball motion. Thanks for watching. I think it’s more the ball is confused at the end of the pattern because of the carry down created by the balls going down the lane. There’s not enough friction so the ball wiggles and when it final hooks it’s too late and doesn’t go through the pins correctly.

I think this is close to the Altered Reality. For me the Harsh Reality is quicker down lane than the Reality so the pearl will be quicker off the end of the pattern than the Altered Reality. Thanks for watching.

They are both about the same strength just depends if you want a smoother controllable ball motion in the Absolute Power or a quicker down lane motion of the DNA Coil compared to the Absolute Power. Thanks for watching.

I just got this ball drilled and I'll throw it in summer league. I find all my reacta gloss balls I hit with a 3k pad. I have an eternity, tnt infused and now the gold label. I'm hoping 3k is perfect for game 3 in league. TNT infused will be in a different bag for another league night.

I liked the shape of the Gold label but it was too clean for the longer patterns for me. I drilled a VEBO in its place. The TNT Infused was too slow for me. Not enough rev rate for that one. 😂

@@PeteDohanJr I'm mainly using these balls in league, I can see how this ball can be slow. I don't have very high revs either. Low 300's and a good ball speed of 16-18 still. I'm not quit 50, but, my revs and ball speed went down for me.

The original Cell is my favorite ball I've ever thrown, and the Hyper Cell was also wonderful, so I just went ahead and ordered this one as soon as it came out. It's waiting at the shop to get drilled up right now actually. However, I did get to throw an X-Cell last weekend before mine arrived! There was a Storm Matchmaker event in town that day that I found out about last minute. The good news is the X-Cell seems to be everything I hoped it would be -- the same type of motion I got back in 2008 from the Cell, but with the strength to handle today's oil conditions. It has enough teeth to handle oil downlane, but it doesn't want to use up all its energy early like my Gem. I saw that same motion you described, with the ball reading the midlane in a way that you can visually see it start to rev up, then it waits a moment before it really grabs and turns left off the spot, and it just keeps going with really impressive continuation. I haven't had this type of motion in my bag in years since I dropped to 14lb and began rebuilding my arsenal from scratch, and it's really been something I've been trying hard to find without luck until now. Also, as someone who is a bit rev challenged, I do not mind one bit seeing you stay around 2nd arrow in your review videos, because that's where I end up usually having to play as well, and it's a nice change of pace from most reviews where guys with 400+ rpms are getting in front of the ball return by the end of the video, since I am not really learning much from that!

I think so. This ball seems to matchup better with our rev rate category. The Gem and Pi were too early and slow for me.

Could be a few reasons. You could change the surface of the ball to help it read the lane better. I don’t have many balls with the out of box surface on them. Thanks for watching.

Hi, how are you? I watch other people bowl on KZfaq. This is my first time coming across your channel. Very interesting way you do it compare. Especially multiple bowling balls from the very top to the bottom I think I just got in the Bowling too late last year. I just wish they’d never discontinued the proton physix, the supernova and the infinite phyisix. The first two are your classic strong asymmetrical shape. The gem is too strong while the other ones are a little too clean but when you do need an asymmetrical pearl, the infinite in my opinion looks symmetrical, but it’s not if there’s any discontinued 15 pounders out there I would love to have at least one of the solids. I just said if not the infinite or both eventually to my arsenal

The Virtual Energy Blackout is close to the same ball motion as the Infinite Physix just a little longer. I use the Absolute Power as my strong asymmetrical piece since the Gem is too strong for me to use. Thank you for watching and the comment. I appreciate it.

I have like a 140 average after a few months. Had a clean game and maybe one 200. Bought the rip, 3rd game with it a 253. Used it at league and had a 233 which made my score 293. Best beginner ball ever.

Hi Pete, how do you feel this ball fits with an xponent and zen master? I think we have similar paps ( mine is 5 1/4 over and 1 7/8 up)

It would fit between those two balls. For me the Journey is more like an original Zen. The Xponent is a little longer and slower down lane. I’d rather use a summit or Phaze II instead of the Xponent. Good luck to you Pete. I remember bowling with you and the south region in 05 and 06 you were a true gentleman and a great professional.
