It was facinating to learn that Denver Union Station had dual gauge track up into the 30s

Very interesting and well done thank you. Full of information! I'd suggest as a possible improvement: music more appropriate to the era being presented.

It is duel gauge but why 4 rails normal duel gauge has 3 rails it is because we can put are equipment in either end

The outside rails are stranded gauge and the inside rails are narrow gauge, so they can move different equipment around with different gauges.

My grandfather W.S. Allen was stationmaster at Larkspur, CO. In the 1990's I was at the museum in Golden with my mom and she was searching down an engine that she said scared her brother to death as he was employed with the task of delivering the orders to the engineer holding that stick contraption while standing at the edge of the platform as that monstrous engine barrelled by. We thought we had found that engine on display at the museum but watching your videos it may have been one the large narrow guage engines she picked out. She said the engine she was talking about was the largest steam engine they ran on that southbound line out of Denver. I would guess maybe the 4-6-2 configuration standard guage? You are stating you don't have that? Do you know what the largest engine they ran down that line around 1935 to 1940 timeline?

Super. They have one of my favorite locomotives, a center cab (GE 44 tonner?) switcher in CB&Q paint. I also vividly remember the vending machine that turned a penny into a souvenir, and when the museum trackage was connected to the C&S "Coors" branch line, and I remember being amazed that the steam locomotive pulling the passenger train could stay on the track on the museum's sharp curves, and the view of the museum's collection from the train was awesome. Please make sure all future locomotives and rolling stock have access to the main line loop, and are accessible and operable from the new property, unlike those beautiful F units, and hopefully three rail everything so that your standard gauge collection can get a workout also. Good video. 💙 T.E.N.

The Irony of the demise of the Rock Island was that a Rail worker strike is what killed the company. All those workers that went on strike were then out of work entirely.

EOTDs "End Of Train Devices", defect detectors, & dragging equipment detectors replaced the cabooses. When the cabooses retired & got replaced by new technology, it made the job easier, faster, safer, & saves the railroads money too. Also comfort was another reason why they replaced the cabooses because of the pull in the slack between the couplers. The longer the train, the harder & louder the pull is in the slack when it begins to move. Since the caboose was the last car on the train, it would get pulled with the most amount of force & sometimes threw the crewmen down out of the cupola & onto the floor too which was one of the reasons why many railroads switched to bay window cabooses for better safety. Today a new caboose would cost $80,000 while a new EOTD would cost only $4,500. I do miss seeing cabooses at the ends of trains but it's good news for the railroads because it saves them money & they don't have to work as hard.
