Had the JCM 900 - Hated it and I always will. I just scored an EVH 5150 Iconic which is 1,000x better. The JCM 900 sounds very shrill and doesn't have a good tube amp sound at all. Been playing for many years. I tried everything from a processor, to EQ in the loop, OD pedals, you name it....No matter what I did with the knobs, I couldn't get it to sound good at high volume. Heck, I even bought a REVV G3 distortion and tried it in channel A on clean and that didn't do it either. Mind you, it sounded great at low volume at my house, but at band practice, at higher volume it almost sounded almost like it was breaking up. TBH, the sound here you're getting isn't good either. He's so stunned because it's not metal; it's actually prog. Virtuosity does not take a back seat to theme, melody, rythm, lyrics, vocals or anything.

Its a stand alone MASTERPIECE and way ahead of its time as far as the ideas, lyrics, social and political statements. I wore that cassette OUT in 1988. The other thing that I don't hear people say is, on side B, listen to how much louder and pronounced the BASS is. No metal/Hard rock band was doing that in those days...that gave it a groove that just added to an already superb sound.....it truly is a beautiful work of ear-ART.

Alex is absolutely underrated. All three of these artists are geniuses. My favorite band forever and always. Since Neil's death, I can't listen to them without tears. Not just for the sadness of no new music to come from the best of the best, but for the joy that their music brought to my life for decades.
