No proof of any Andalusian blood in Falabellas- thta is a total myth. They were bred from a spotted stallion some Gauchos traded for watering rights for their animals. He was a riding pony for the kids long before they decided to breed him to five imported standard Shetland mares- ALL this is documented. They then bought up an American Shetland stud and bred them around that size- there is no size limit on a Falabella, a lot of them are really quite large. Get your facts RIGHT!!!! They are not under 33" there is NO height limit.

I've had representatives of a number of small breeds including Welsh, Shetland, Hackney and Miniature Horse. Presently I still have 2 mini horses. They are in the upper 20s now and have been here together ever since they were 2 and 3. Though my all-time favorite is the handsome Welsh, these minis substitute for the big guys now that I no longer ride and just want horses around. I've learned never to underestimate these little ones: they are fast, exceptionally clever and spunky with a little bit of "fresh". I'd say the big guys are much easier to work with and get along with while the minis challenge you many different ways. One of mine is 29" and the other is 32". They are geldings and live and loaf together in their own spoiled little world.

My name is Maria A. Falabella from Argentina farm where the Falabella came from and I sold the last one to a Toyland in USA in 2006, but I always have same nostalgia about who still have some of them and read about them makes me feel good. Nice to share my feelings

Your Falabellas are lovely and a wonderful breed. I've never owed a Falabella mostly because I could not find one on the east coast. I settled on the miniatures. But the Falabellas seem to be simply amazing.
