I picked one of these watches...and good god!!! A hidden gem indeed...the quality is outstanding. Definitely getting more Alpinas....great stuff.

Perhaps the lighting could be a little less contrasty. Some diffusion on the lighting would help lessen the burnt out highlights, on your hand/fingers in particular. Just a thought. All the best.

I’ve had the gray version of this watch for a couple of weeks. I got it as a gift and was immediately struck by the quality of it. The design reminds me of an instrument you might find in the cockpit of an airplane. Informative without distractions which I really like. It’s a big watch compared to my other 38 mm watches so I thought I wouldn’t wear it much. I found the opposite to be true. While I don’t have large wrists, this watch wears like a smaller watch and I find myself wearing it more than my other watches. The crystal is amazingly clear and I like the smoothness of the higher frequency second hand movement. All in all, I find it a very nice Diver to add to my collection.

Can't agree I'm afraid - the 2018 Seastar 1000 looks far classier and more refined than the earlier version that you seem to prefer. I think the earlier model looks rather cheap and toy like - speaking to a local AD, he told me the previous Seastar (2015/16) that you prefer, he couldn't sell them - they didn't move! He was in two minds about even wanting the 2018 Seastar in his store until he saw the watch, which he loved. I own the 2018 Seastar 1000 in the Blue Gradient dial and think it is a stunning piece. I have seen other reviews where owners have both the 2015 and 2018 Seastar and prefer the 2018. You're on your own it seems - where Tissot are going is better then where they were. If you like the earlier version, great ... keep wearing it and enjoy it.

I've been collecting watches for 20 years now, and the biggest disappointment is how hard it is for the hobby to be gratifying without buying something all the time. A couple of cures: I can’t understand how this can happened (in the shower) the numeric frame peeled off!!!!! sorry but I feel like I wear cheap product from china, really really big disappointment for me. Bezel is glued with glue!!!!!! don't buy

It is strange that the author prefers East Amphibian watches. Seiko's mechanism is a head higher than the mechanisms of Russian watches.

Totally agree with the watches reducing the bph. I hate that they extended the power reserve. No one cares. People that buy the entry luxury watches usually have only one. As is a 38-40 hour power reserve is fine. I was pissed Tissot went to the powermatic. Looks like I’ll be looking into an oris again! Nice review!

I´m on the fence for this one. It´s nice looking and Swiss but not great lume and not that well known. Is 800 euro a good price?

Ok just realized all the Seastrong's I've seen at the shops, the movements are fully decorated, blued screws, swirls , etc, can't really tell , but yours seems only decorated with the Alpina rotor ?

Everyone has different views on everything. The previous seastar isnt bad. But youre missing a few things. First of all look at your indexes on both watches. Second of all i prefer the hands on the new seastar rather than the old one. They look too cartoony. Third. Look at the dial through the sapphire crystal on the new seastar. The dark grey dial and the one youre looking at on amazon. I think those two are the best looking ones. And the bezel ill agree its like they did not want to make the numbers visible. But i kinda like it. It makes it look like a dressy diver. I will agree the rotor looks better on the one that u like. So thats me. Like i said the previous seastar not bad. But i prefer the new one.
