Do you always depend on the outer dimension to make the cut even if you are cutting a frame with a rabbit? I don't see how the stop can set that for you since that's the actual size you are concerned with. The width of the moulding can dictate the length. True?
@CasualDIY16 сағат бұрын
I do calculate that before hand, rabbet size and then final frame size. So in the end I only need the frame dimensions for the jig.
@paulallentaylor603415 сағат бұрын
I am thinking the ID is +1/8 over the art size or matting, plus 2x the width of the back of the frame, not the overall width. The 2x is for the equal leg of the 45 degree cut in the long dimension. This gives the overall outer length that you are making here.

That particular t bracket clamp is from Evolution track system for a track saw. Any of those type of clamps should work with it.

Production values are slipping, you switched to copper but kept on referring to it as brass 🤣 Something not right with the IR when engraving metals, very poor performance ... I checked out a video of the XTOOL D1-PRO with the IR module and the engraving is basically black on most of the metals tested ... looks like they are both 2W lasers 🤔 Anyway, thanks for the video, this product is not for me personally but still interesting 👍
@CasualDIYКүн бұрын
Hehe well spotted, didn't noticed that until you mentioned it. And I re-watched the video before publishing like 4 times lol It's about the speed mate with the IR, it's only 2W so you just need to go slower. The speeds I was using were way to quick. But still gave decent results.

Hi. Great video. Some people say that the rollers need cleaning, have you had to do that yet and did you make a video? Thanks. Michael.
@CasualDIYКүн бұрын
I don't really use this machine as a thicknesser so not had the need for that. However my Metabo thicknesser I use never had its rollers cleaned. But if you were using wood that potentially leaves a lot of residue then I would say that you would have to clean the rollers from time to time.

The pressure pot pushes the air out of the resin, as the resin is heavier than air. It pushes the resin into the mold, forcing the air up and out. It doesn't just make the air so small you can't see it....
@CasualDIY2 күн бұрын
I haven't experienced that "pressure pot pushes the air out of resin" and I have made many tests over the years. Also using materials with cavities on many occasions it will not be 100% filled. That depends on resin viscosity, curing time and so on.
@XDeminox2 күн бұрын
@@CasualDIY probably depends on the complexity of the mold and the type of resin and whether or not the resin has been vacuumed first (vac part a and b separately so less air is in when mixing slowly) the pressure pushes the resin into the tiny gaps that air likes to stick to, and the air doesn't have anywhere to go but up... But I'm also using wider shallower molds, which may explain my experiences vs average If you use wider base cups so the resin is less deep in the vac chamber btw it finishes faster as there is less vertical for the air to go through. (To an extent. More always still means longer like you said).

Well I had quite o lot of content recently not related to lasers. And if you are not interested in a particular video you don't have to watch it, just skip it. No pressure in watching all my videos. I honestly think these machines are great and can create extra income for people. I know few of them that do this full time now with great earnings. Plus I'm doing not too bad either. I think they will become a norm in a woodworking environment.

My rage 5s table saw blade simply will not adjust to 90 degrees from the very beginning. Maximum I can get it to is 89 degrees. Really poor design and I’ve no idea how to adjust this issue. I’m guessing it will involve stripping the whole table down again and micro adjusting the blade alignment then putting it all back together and the thought of having to do that just makes me regret buying this after it getting so many good reviews

Another excellent tip for beginners 👍... although if moisture retention between the lining and the wood is a concern, then it'd be better to have the dimples facing the wood so that there is an air gap 😁
@CasualDIY4 күн бұрын
The dimples are nit that sturdy, if pressed against wood and being under pressure from soil they may collapse. This way you still get some air movement between the foil and wood. Not ideal but better than normal plastic lining

Thank you! I bought a router table (and a 1/4" round bit, as well as a 3/4" straight bit) to make some cuts on 1"x 2" long pieces of wood. This is because I want to then use the cut wood to make "stretch bars" that'll be used for canvas paintings. The inside of stretch bars are cut in a way so they arch inward, and the "highest" point on the profile of the wood is the most outer edge. This way, only that edge has canvas touching the wood (which is good for preventing marks during painting). What I discovered from this explanation is I'll need to more carefully plan the cutting of my wood, because I'll end up at a point where effectively there will be only one point of contact against the fence stabilizing the piece of wood. So theoretically if I'm not careful, the wood could "fall in" on one edge and cut improperly. I think I'll need to look up a better way to use a router table to specifically make stretch boards. Regardless, thank you for the warning to a problem I didn't realize I had.

Sometimes spending couple of hours on making a simple jig for that one specific but repetitive cut could be the best way to go.

Not sure changing from wood flooring to tiles will reduce your energy bills, you need better insulation and less air leakage to do that. It will allow your house to heat faster and reach higher temperatures and have warmer feeling floors though, but it sounds like you have lots of reasons to change the floors, shame they glued the wood down rather used a floating construction! Look forward to seeing the finished floors
@CasualDIY9 күн бұрын
Well I'm hoping the tiles will accumulate and hold the warmth. That will mean the air pump will work less often as the temperature should be held by the floor longer. The warmth was just not coming through the wooden floor. The house is from 2018 so it's well insulated. Well this coming winter we will see if it was worth it or not.
@martindove85059 күн бұрын
@@CasualDIY thanks for the reply and will be interesting to see the data from your energy use. The more conductive ceramic tiles will transmit heat quicker into the room the opposite of what you are thinking. So the heat output from the UFH will be increased.
@CasualDIY9 күн бұрын
@@martindove8505 that's true it will, but in a same way if you throw a stone into a fire ant them take it out it will remain hot for some time. Whereas the wood did not allow the heat to go into the room plus it wasing holding the heat in itself. But ye, that's all a theory. We will see in the winter. Still got to do the ground floor but we will wait and see if it's worth it or not.

I found that to adjust the alignment of the blade I had to loosen BOTH screws at the back, not just the left one. Then alignment was easy. However the nuts they use on those bolts leave a bit to be desired. Theres a little wall on the casting underneath that is supposed to stop the nuts from spinning, but one nut wasn’t contacting it. TBH the nuts look a bit undersized. I may replace them. Great video!
