Question: I have a 3.74 undergrad GPA and 3.892 in graduate school. My LSAT score is 151. What are my chances of getting a scholarship, like top 200 schools? I am applying to LMU Duncan School of Law due to their hybrid program.

I have first-hand experience with applying to Colorado Law last cycle. I was a splitter with a 3.5 and a 171 and had applied broadly to 12 different schools. I recieved a scholarship offer of 85% off the price of my first year tuition, BUT for the second and third years I would only recieve a flat $10,000 off. As a Colorado resident, this meant i would only get ~30% off the price of my 2L and 3L years. So yes, it's clear that the law school is trying to manipulate their scholarship numbers by making more generous offers in the 1L year. They even tried to reassure me in their offer letter that there would be plenty of opportunities to "apply for scholarships for the second and third year" and that "many students succeed in finding some scholarship for their second and third years". Thanks for bringing this to everyone's attention. I love the show, and have continued to listen even after applying and entering law school myself.

It is called the FLEP fully funded legal education program. The Army pays 100% of all legal cost and they still get their military pay while going to school full time. The Army selects usually around 25-40 applicants a year for this program.

Hi! Can you please tell me as to how the international student wanting to pursue JD in USA should use scholarship estimator in LSAT DEMON WEBSITE! Please do the needful!

If you don't have a reportable GPA, then law schools will focus primarily on your LSAT score. You can estimate a GPA that corresponds to your international grades by using the grade conversion table on LSAC's website: www.lsac.org/applying-law-school/jd-application-process/cas/requesting/transcript-summarization Here's a podcast episode about international student grades: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eM1hfpiSx5umonU.html Here's another: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hraVoMuVqsqahGQ.html

It's like any other test. You'd solve the question then go into the answer choices and select the answer you got. If a question on a test asked what the answer to 2 + 2 is, you're not going to sit there and go through all the wrong answer choices. You'd solve it and select 4. This is especially important on the LSAT because the answer choices are designed to confuse you. Already clearly knowing the answer (or at the very least knowing what to look for) saves you time and points.

When the test "tells us" that there is something we are not understanding through review, should we then utilize the lessons to improve understanding on that question type, especially if the explanations provided don't result in a subjectively sufficient explanation to gain understanding? Furthermore, if it appears to be a certain type or types of LR questions that are consistently missed, is it advisable to filter the drilling option to that type(s) of question? Thank you for the podcast and the meditation sessions!
@LSATDemon
@LSATDemon 5 күн бұрын
Yes, the lessons might help explain a concept that you don't understand. You can also ask for help directly using the Ask button. We don't recommend filtering by a single question type, but you could pick one or two other question types to include along with the one you want to focus on. This better simulates the test because you won't know for sure what the question is when you start a new one.

When you say 80% of the time A is incorrect is this true for the LSAT as a whole ?
@gabebarajas9853
@gabebarajas9853 8 күн бұрын
Technically speaking, all the answers have an 80% chance of being incorrect so while this holds true for A it would also hold true for all the other answer choices

It’s not common sense.They literally create passages that don’t even make sense. And you’ll have to go over it again to make sure you are not just confused about what you’re reading but it’s really just how they did it

While I understand her point, she did not qualify for a full time student scholarships due to her income and moving to a part-time program, her terminology is misleading. Federal financial aid for JD students includes student loans which are income based. This information is derived from the FAFSA each academic year. While it is very impressive to attend law school while working as a doctor, scholarships should be available for students with the greatest financial need.

It depends on the school. Your best results will come from applying before schools make their first round of admissions decisions. A November application might miss that cutoff at some schools but not others. On the flipside, there's no compelling reason not to wait until next cycle and give yourself more shots at the test.

Going through this exact issue. My gpa would be very competitive with LSAC’s value system, but my uni muddled down all grades 93-100 as an A. I have many classes I got a 98-100 in. Maybe even nearing half of the classes. Unfortunately my transcript won’t show my percentage grade it will only show what my uni determined was an “A” so I’m getting screwed out of so many points .

How does 5 years in work experience in corporate America along with a high lsat score but 2.7 gpa play in the field? Does work experience boost significantly? I also feel as I’ve been through some life changing events. Should I even consider t14 schools? Please help me! Thank you in advance.

There are some schools that are accredited by the California Bar but not the ABA. Students at those schools do not have to take the 1L exam. Just check with your school. Purdue Global is an online school and works hard to make sure their students are ready for the California bar exam (The 2022 cohort had a 62% pass rate and overall, the school has been comparable to ABA schools' passage rate of the Cal bar). Additionally, every state has their own bar admission criteria. Every state takes non-ABA JD differently, so just check with that state's bar. I'm looking at ABA-schools that provide fully online, part-time programs and the only state that has an issue with a complete distance education JD is New York. I'm an established adult in the IT field but want to get into law, so working while in school is a must. I've looked at some non-ABA programs as well since I live in California but I feel like I might not be competitive for some government positions that I might want to apply to so studying for the LSAT it is. I hope to start law school in 2025.

Do most govt legal positions require ABA degree? Which ABA schools offer fully online and/or part time? Curious to ask I’m in CA too
@JimSavell
@JimSavell 11 күн бұрын
@@anupammishra8477I’ve looked at the California DOJ and DA offices since I’m interested in criminal law and they do not mention ABA JD requirements. University of Hawaii, Southwestern Law School (which is located in Los Angeles), Ohio Northern, Case Reserve Western, and St Mary’s University (in Texas) are the full online programs that are ABA certified. Part-time programs take four years. Since posting this, I decided to apply to a non-ABA program at Purdue Global. The dean there is pushing for fully online law schools to be recognized by the ABA. The program is accredited by the CA Bar and with petition graduates can sit for the Indiana Bar. They have competitive first time bar passage rates compared to California ABA schools and are one of the best CA Bar certified schools in terms of first time bar passage. The full tuition cost for the JD program at Purdue Global is around 50k, not including books. With a bar license (ABA or not), you can be admitted into any court in California, including the district courts and federal courts, including the Supreme Court. While there are some practices that might specifically say an ABA JD, I’ve seen plenty to jobs that just want you to have a bar license in California.

The proctor communicates via chat feature during the exam. The only voice encounter with the proctor is during check-in, but the chat is also available during that time so I'm sure that could be utilized. In regard to accommodations, is the increase in accommodations a sign of more people "gaming the system," or is it reflective of the sharp increase in mental health diagnosis globally? There likely are some gaming the system, but I thought I'd provide a counter perspective.
