I've never heard of you or your videos but this randomly showed up on my recommended and the thumbnail intrigued me. The video sold me on the premise. I'm going to buy a copy in a couple of days and I'll leave a review on Amazon when I'm done. Good luck with your authorial endeavors!

It's been a bit since I've used my sq. I was shocked at the current prices of backs and everything else. If you really want that back off. It's just a mechanical switch that is released by putting something similar to the slide along the bottom edge while pressing the release button. The ps glass and coatings are nicer and also add 1/2 stops for aperture. You can adapt 35mm easily with adapters. I also made a body cap pinhole which is approximately 80mm to give you some more options. Batteries last a long time.

So if you were to take indoor pictures, then the DOF would be shallower than 35mm since you still need to open the aperture for low light (lets say both wide open at F/4)? In other words, does this make medium format more challenging in low light if you wanted to capture the same DOF?

400D has to be rated at 200 iso & processed normally for daylight shots or pushed 2 stops (1600) & processed at 1600 & it looks really good especially if shot at night.. If shot at box speed & processed that way the results are all over the place

I have the Mamiya 220 and I love the image quality I get from it but my only gripe is the size....I seem to struggle fitting it in my camera bags!

C33/C330 cameras sometimes suffer from advance issues. I have a C33 here on a shelf for spare parts that sometimes advances the film, sometimes it doesn't. It's just a parts body. Another thing to check is that you shut the back fully with two thumbs putting pressure on both sides, and then keep pressure as you turn the lock dial. There's a catch on the right that if not fully enacted sometimes jacks things up. Good luck! I have 3 C220's, 2 C33's, and a C330. Did an entire project on one of my 220's that now has its images in a solo show at a local college. The leaf shutter is much more quiet than my Hasselblad, and that's why I chose this camera for the project.

Ruh roh.. I really like my C220. I don’t think I’ve busted out a C330 in decades. I agree about the relatively dim wlf.. I use a prism finder almost exclusively on my C220.. it does the trick. I’ll be interested in what you discover about the double exposure thing. Good luck!
@thirtyfiveeyes12 күн бұрын
Ruh rob indeed. Hoping I can get the hang of this camera and figure out what caused those double exposures.

I read red filter and I thought this was an astrophotography video, now I wonder how would a h-alpha filter look in a b&w film... I guess it would look great for astro, after all some good astro cameras are b&w, but I don't know how the film would affect the results

I’m glad I found your channel this week! I particularly liked your 2023 recap, it was very relatable. Your approach to photography is very tasteful and mechanically balanced. Thank you for putting in the work to make this content, it’s a great accompaniment to my photography journey!

Loving the ATL shots! I live in Atlanta and I’m always looking for inspiration on how to shoot my home town. There’s a lot of pine forests and hills here, so I find it takes a little more time to find good subjects. Honestly, I think urban/street photography goes hard in Atlanta. Lots of good gardens as well. Great video!

What are the odds?! I almost bought a Mamiya C330 from a friend of mine, but I gave it back to him this week because I couldn't afford his asking price. It would be wild if that was the same one.

Isn't a wealthy background more or less a must to be able to be seen as a successful artist? A recent survey among successful and established Swedish artists (those who exhibit their work at institutions and win awards) found that something like 90% of them were of very wealthy backgrounds, like being an heir of an industrial tycoon. It's not that their art is objectively better, but because they can spend almost 100% of their time creating new art instead of applying for scholarships and having side gigs like teaching. The somewhat simplified reasoning was along the lines: The more art you create the more likely you are to get an exhibition, and the more exhibitions you have the more likely you are seen as a relevant and important artist. It's a numbers game and being financially independent helps a lot.

Some of the effects look to me like something that happens in NIR photography. With the red filter, you're filming the end of the visible spectrum. NIR and infrared in general cut through atmospheric barriers and since red is the beginning of that spectrum you have a little bit of that in the images. If you were to remove the hot mirror filter you would actually gain a lot more sensitivity.
@pcaridadАй бұрын
What about digital photos? I've been taking pictures with a red filter and couldn't get that effect, like on the Ansel Adam's Moon over a mountain range. 🤔

Enjoyed this! It's funny the algorithm pushed it my way - I'd literally just got home with three rolls of UltraMax (relatively unexciting, but affordable for my weekend away) because the shop didn't have any Superia in (and shop man told me UltraMax is the same stock as the slightly more expensive Fuji 400). Interesting list - ColorPlus is genuinely one of my absolute favourites. Colour film should make life pop (basically the vibrancy/saturation point you make). And ColorPlus does with a lovely, lively nostalgic balance. And it used to be so so cheap... My other favourites? XP2 is an absolute gem. Delta 3200 makes everything look like a dream. I shot a roll of Flic Film Elektra 100 last summer which might be my favourite ever colour set. Tried Ektar 100 for the first time in March and will be doing so again this summer. At this point I've shot enough Portra to know it's a film I just don't love. Probably a skill issue on my part, but it's too expensive for me/I'm too old to care anymore. I'm on my second roll of Phoenix right now. First roll was a very mixed bag (some decent early morning and sunset shots, but not great in most British weather) but I'm glad it exists. Might give it a while before my third roll though... Thanks again for the video!
