I breastfed my son for 2.5 years. First reduced the feeding during the day, then cut the "before sleep" feeding down to every other day. That lasted for about a week. Then I just taped my ni*ples with boob tape 😬 and told him the dairy does not work anymore and he just accepted it.

I used to leave the TV on, only because she's was an infant and she could see TV while we slept. But once she turned 1yr old, we went pitch black it's been the perfect setting.

My son slept well like my NT daughter did until about 2 yrs be old. It wasn’t until he was 6 years old that he regularly slept through the night. There were many nights I got such little sleep I eventually just went to bed when he did to keep up. Now, he gets up early on occasion, no big deal, I think we all do! I try to keep the kids playing outside or engaged in something without the tv on, which admittedly, is hard during storms or extreme heat. He likes to swim and luckily we have an indoor pool in the community. They need to burn off that stored energy and physically feel the day pass. When we go camping in the woods or in the backyard he sleeps very well. I also made it a point that he can ride a bike, hike trails, swim and any other outdoor activities. It’s a steeper learning curve because language is near impossible. But I get him and he gets what I’m trying to convey most of the time. Just gotta gently keep pushing, lovingly be patient, and accept that some days are a bust but also don’t take failure as permanent. Sometimes you need to cool off and revisit something’s when you have the stamina and he’s more receptive. Breakthroughs are triumphs for him and the rest of us. I can see his happiness being able to participate and for self reliance more and more.

My 7 mo daughter is a night owl like her mama. She doesn’t want to fall asleep until the clock strikes 11pm, like literally on the dot. She used to wake up four times a night when I was feeding her only breast milk. My mother told me to add oatmeal or rice cereal to her night feeds at 10pm and now she sleeps from 11pm to 5am. I nurse her in bed and then she sleeps until 7:30-8ish am. I also make sure the house is also completely dark around 9pm and if I’m watching tv, I watch what I want, NOT what she wants because we noticed the bright colors keep her up and she gets bored eventually while laying down or after playing with a soft toy or teething ring and just falls asleep ☺️ I hope this might help someone

I tried the Ferber method with my 9 month old, I couldn’t bare his crying after 20mins, by instinct to go get him and comfort him was too strong, my husband was the same, we could not leave him crying and in a state. Now getting a floor bed to get him use to sleeping on his back and not on me but me still be by his side, till it’s the ninja slip away.

I just started sleeping trying my 11 1/2 month old last Friday. I stoped Saturday night. We did Feber my son cried for 2 hours! I felt and still feel like the worst mother ever! I will never do that to my son ever again in life. The past 4 days I started my own pick up put down method and patting his back and singing. He’s co slept and contact slept only for naps since 3 months old. He’s been sleeping in his crib since Sunday night! He’s waking up but he’s in the crib and lets me put him back to sleep in the crib. We will get there slowly but surely but I will never subject him to that ever again in life! Go with your gut instincts mama, I did. He needs a more gentle approach and that’s what I’m going to give him. Good luck. 😊

@@msezbreezy1 my boy is one years old on Sunday, and still talking shifts with my Husband while he sleeps. Bought him a floor bed, but getting him to sleep on his own is a mission, he does not want to be put down. We will get there in the end, long as he’s happy and content is all I care about. Do what is right for you, and don’t let the outside voices tell you what’s best, you know what’s best for your little one :)

This is why I loved working in couplet care...because I could lay the foundation for realistic expectations. I was abused as a kid and a lot of the abuse I saw in the pediatric ER was due to unrealistic expectations where they simply didnt understand their child's needs or emotions or they expected the child to be at a milestone they havent reached yet.

How do you fix that situation without having to give in? Considering sometimes we must walk away, like to the bathroom or something important. How can you calm them and carry on?

My son had 1 tantrum in the store. I had just worked a 12 hour night shift, but needed church clothes for my kids, so went to Burlington to get it before sleeping. I was so sleep deprived and had no reserve left. I just broke down and cried. My eyes closed. All of a sudden I felt 2 cold little hands on my face and the sweetest voice of my son saying, "I'm sorry mama. Dont cry". We hugged it out and finished the trip to the store without issue. He is such a sweetheart. He never once threw a tantrum after that. He's 16 now. ❤ I agree that the core of tantrums is anxiety and fear. Anger is a secondary emotion.

My guy, where do you charge your phone at night? Because I know damn well most of the population has their phone on their bed stand next to them to charge. Nobody had their phones at the recommended range from their pillow at night, mainly because most use it as an alarm or they fall asleep watching youtube or tiktoks.

Ive been using it since launch and it definitely hasnt had any effect on my sleep. I still go to bed and wake up at the same times (less than the 8.5 hours the game reccomends) and I actually put my phone up an hour BEFORE i go to bed to get my bedtime rewards even though im not asleep and NOT ON MY PHONE BC IT THINKS IM ASLEEP. Thus, the second argument is useless it definitely helps keep people OFF their phones. Other apps have also been using voice and lidar to track sleep for a while - and those apps are very expensive because its a very useful tool. Please use the actual app before knocking it like a boomer

I mean you can put it at the end of bottom end frame of the bed and It still works. The game also encourages you to get 8 hours of sleep. Plus if you are a minor it requires you to ask for permission by your parental figures.

Look up the mechanics of the game before making some of these claims. The game encourages longer uninterrupted sessions of sleep, so phantom or even real notifications are less likely to get you to grab your phone. It also seems in a prime position to help, and prevent the development of, reaching for your phone when unable to fall asleep while trying because it encourages resting prolonged periods.

Man, there is massive boomer energy radiating from this short haha. As someone who plays and has grown up with pokemon I really like pokemon sleep. It has genuinely done the opposite to me and helped my sleep rather than what you're describing. It also proves you havent play it yourself and have just read a few tidbits about the game. Boomers are so concerned nowadays with privacy this and privacy that. If i didnt want my sleep to be recorded, I just wouldnt have the app on? Whats it gonna hear? Me snoring or shuffling around? The game gives you warnings about it before hand if youre unsure, it doesnt do it without your concent. It even presents you a few of the sound highlights so can hear if you snore or move around a lot, which can help if you struggle with sleep apnea. The game has actually made me stick to an actual bedtime better than my mom telling me off when i was younger because im rewarded for doing so, because you get daily streak rewards for going to bed within 30 minutes either side of your bedtime. I always used to use my phone more before bed anyway and watched videos to put me to sleep. Now with the app it cant record your sleep properly if its not open while you sleep, which discourages me from watching videos like i used to. Is it sad that i need an app to help me sleep by giving me little virtual rewards for doing so? Maybe in some peoples eyes. Do i care what those people think? No. My main issue with the app that you didnt even bring up, which just shows where your priorities are. Is that sleeping with your device, especially while its charging is a possible fire hazard. (Which the game also warns you about). It encourages you not to have your phone covered by your blanket or pillows and to have it in a space that you and it wont disturb each other.
