I wanna know how to get the new carbon that was laid be c mixed in so it looks invisible
@vincenttuzzolino857225 күн бұрын
I know you do a lot of carbon fiber work and my carbon fiber has faded a lot due to the heat and humidity here in Florida. Do you think it’s worth re-resin or should I just go ahead and pay over cause I don’t know if they have resins that are made for this type of heat and humidity. I just wanted your input. Thank you.

As i was watching this i thought to myself that you may have an issue removing it due to all the undercuts. they also make a wax you can use for this in lue of the clay. I use the clay all the time for my molds but its a slightly different process. I make fiberglass prop replicas for collectors and costumers/cosplayers. However i make silicone molds for the parts with fiberglass shells in multiple parts. I know this process you show here, is more common for car parts. Reading through the comments and your replies , im glad to hear that you did get it out. I would recommend when making the mold to do a few coats of gel coat before the glass so you get a near perfect surface to the mold. But glad it worked out for ya!

Hey Thanks so much for watching! Yes the way I showed in this video could definitely be done better by MY todays standard lol, but while it was tricky to remove it did just pop out at the end once I worked around the more mechanically locked section. ALSO I think it would be so cool and original if you incorporated some forged carbon "chopped Graphite as they call it online" in a piece of your casting work. I myself would love to see how it would come out.

Man, all I got to say is wow! I currently have a vehicle that has carbon fiber parts from factory in one of those parts need to be replaced and the factory was trying to charge $4,500. Thanks to KZfaq University and especially your video, I've learned a lot. I am looking forward to doing my own repairs. It should be fun.

Hey thanks for watching! That's awesome I'm so glad you found it helpful. I wish you tons of luck and a piece of advice that helped me when I was getting started. Buy a little test kit of resin and carbon and make something flat at first to get used to the resin mixing ratios and how the carbon will reacts to being shaped. Something like a coaster to put your drink on or just layer up some carbon and squeeze it between something flat and cut a cool shape out of it. Good Luck!

That looks amazing! Thank you for sharing. Just out of curiosity, how well does a carbon blade like this keep its edge? And are the carbon sheets at risk of delaminating from use?
@ksmneptune4 ай бұрын
For all use purpose I’d give it a 4/10. The blade itself is very sharp but doesn’t stay that way after hitting the cutting board. (As well if any pieces start to fret and get in your food you’ll be swallowing carbon fiber shards) 0/10 for that

Is 16 gauge a good wire to use for this?
@ksmneptune4 ай бұрын
Because it’s such a low load I felt it was the best gauge to use, HOWEVER, I am not an electrician, but you should go by the demand the appliance needs. (The higher the demand the thicker the wire)

Cars haven't had true steel body panels in a long time. It's usually a steel alloy that really isn't that strong. But also have to remember that cars are make to crumple in low speed collisions these days so it can't be very strong at all

Love the hard work and I love to see happy people, but with all due respect I would reapply the forged carbon with larger 1" flakes so that from afar you'll be able to see the beautiful pattern of forged carbon. Once you are done with all the final coats of resin and sanding you are going to see that the small flakes you chose will only be noticeable from up close. from afar it'll just look black. Also, you did not use enough layers of woven carbon fabric for better structural support. I would've used a mix of 3k and 12k carbon fabric before applying 1" carbon flakes.
