does it need to be calibrated out of the box? or will it work right away

Going into pet stops since I was a kid I just can’t seem to break away from the the fish hobby. Even my wife thought I was crazy the amount of time I use to spend when I was setting up my tank. In the process of a upgrade a 100 gallon tank and this sump would make a perfect fit 🤞🏽

Did your new ICP verify that the salifert test kit was right? I read that these home test kits for silicates arent very accurate and I cant afford to keep testing all my 3 tanks! Did you have any diatoms with the high silicates? I thiink I maybe dealing with them because some kind of film like algae keep getting all over my newer acrylic frag racks and killed a lot of my zoas plus i get film on my glass so quickly!

Did you like these or the ai Nero?
@premiumaquatics801510 күн бұрын
They are both good options! I personally like the Neros since they have a bit of movement, and the app is easy to use. Another great option are the Tunze powerheads, which have a much better range of movement if needed.

Can you adjust the flow on the 9 watt?
@Semper.Reefing23 күн бұрын
How would I convert my dual mega overflow to a herbie? Would I keep one return running and run an emergency on the other side? Then the other two drains full siphon? I’m trying to get more turnover in my tank. I’m over the dursos because they’re noisy and I had to cut the flow down a ton to stop the noise
@premiumaquatics801510 күн бұрын
I would think you could do either way. I think maybe doing a regular and emergency in each overflow would be the nicest. I don't think it would matter as I think about it, but maybe to be safe in case something would happen with one of the overflows.

I just built a new house with the central feature being a central reef aquarium. I am just getting to setting up my aquarium, a hobby I had to part with for 20 years - but I'm back, Baby! So looking forward to getting my reef tank set up and running - Despite the comments on the therapeutic effects of watching the fish, reefs and other critters, and the knowing that you are essentially playing God with this little bio-dome; the big joy is the tinkering - the adjustments and monitoring and adding a specialized piece of equipment to solve a problem. Then it is the look on visitor's faces and saying, "Ah, it's nothing to maintain....." :)

I used this to add three firefish and followed the directions to the T. All three died within 24 hours. I’ll go back to my original recipe.

Oh man. Buddy. You need to throw the ati sunpower back on. All of these LED modules are gimmicks and you’ll never be satisfied with any of them. No led has ever been able to produce true uv-a/b/c and never will. These spectrums are necessary for coral metabolic functions and you can only get them from t5 and mh. Look at your posts with the t5 and look at the ones with leds. Night and day day difference.

For me, one of the greatest joys of having a reef aquarium is the sense of peace and serenity it brings into my life. There’s something truly therapeutic about spending time with my aquarium, watching the gentle sway of coral branches and the graceful movements of colorful fish. It’s a reminder to slow down, to appreciate the beauty of the natural world, and to find solace in its quiet rhythms.

I love having the ability to never do water changes for years on my 420gal sps system and everything running smoothly.

One of the best things about Reefing is..nothing ever goes smoothly! so there’s a ton of trial and error and lessons learned. But Eventually you end up figuring out the issues your having and the pay off is well worth it.😊

My favorite about this hobby is the love and support with everyone. Everyone helps you or your helping someone else. And telling the wife you need all new tech to keep up. But reality you dont.

Aside from all the great people I've met from reefing, I love that there's always something to do when reef keeping. There's always ways to make life easier with your tanks and an even easier ways to make it more complicated but it's fun nonetheless.
