Hi! Thank you so much for this lovely, relaxing vlog!! I'm super interested in going to Naoshima from Osaka as a day trip but i wasnt planning on buying a JR pass. How would you suggest buying train tickets for someone who doesnt have a JR Pass? Thank you so much!!

Hello! I’m so sorry for the late response! It’s just as easy without the JR (which I agree and don’t think is worth buying now haha) I would take the train to Okayama and swap to the Seto-Ohashi line to Chayamachi, then swap over to the Uno line :) google maps can be trusted well ! If you can set up a suica/paramo card on your phone (there should be tutorials online) it’ll mean you won’t have to purchase physical tickets

Great vid. Can you get back to Osaka or is there a limit to hours for trains and transportation ? Thank you.

Hey thanks for watching! You can definitely get back to Osaka if that’s where you’re staying, especially if you have the JR Pass. I’d recommend looking on the HyperDia website or Google Maps is also pretty reliable and a bit easier to understand :) it’s a bit of a long trip but easily doable, just make sure you don’t miss the ferry off the island haha Enjoy :)

Why not making two videos. One with your faces from all angles (which does not interest anyone) and another one only with the sights you want to show here? Its boring to permanently have your faces in front.

Thanks for the feedback :) We decided to film the video in a more casual style, which is why there is a lot of talking and silly things mixed in - there are lots of videos out there showcasing the sights, and many of the locations in Naoshima you aren't actually allowed to film. I went this route for editing to make it a bit more enjoyable for a casual viewer or someone who is looking for tips on planning without spoiling too much :)

Sean-san, Which countries are you from? this video is awesome! I'm from Tokyo and just came back here. I just wonder how you knew Naoshima. There are many foreigners and I was surprised a lot! Do you have any clues how they knew this small beautiful art island?

Thank you so much- We are from Australia! I had heard that Naoshima was a really cool to visit from my friend, and a Travel Book about Japan by Lonely Planet😄 I know that lots of people don’t stay in Japan for long enough to include a day trip. We really wanted to go, so made sure that we could :))

Hi, Sean! Great video to watch and really helpful as well. want to check with you, so from Okayama to Uno Port, all by train with JR pass? Did you book the museum ticket for Chichu Museum online / on the spot? How long did you spend at Naoshima over all? like 10am to 5 pm? And the ferry is always there every 1 hour for going back? Sorry, a lot of questions haha Thank youuu :)
@SeanJepp
@SeanJepp Жыл бұрын
Hi Jesse! Thanks for watching :) Yep, the trains are covered by the JR Pass, and you can pay for the ferry at the terminal! On the train you may have to swap across the platform at Chayamachi station- just follow the signs for Uno Port or use something like google maps :) We booked in advance and you definitely should for Chichu! We ordered online a few days before and we were lucky it worked with our schedule. Our advice is to book for an early timeslot - it’s less busy and you’ll have more time to explore the island before things start to close! We arrived 10AM and left at 4:30PM, as most galleries and art houses close at 4.30 (it’s also quite a tiring day hahaha) The ferry leaves every 30min or hour, (3, 4, 4.30, 5.30) to check the schedule look up Miyanoura - Uno ferry, that will also help with a timetable for arriving :) Hope this helps! Let me know if you need any more info haha

I'm just back Tokyo from Naoshima, you can also take a bus from Okayama Station. There is a Ohara Museum in Kurashiki city that was also beautiful.

Hello great video! Did you eat lunch? Was there many places to get food around the galleries you visited? thank u ^^
@SeanJepp
@SeanJepp Жыл бұрын
Hello! Thanks for watching!! Yes, we decided to eat lunch at the Chichu art museum cafe, which has a fantastic view of the ocean and some tasty food options (although it is a little expensive and you have to pay entry to the museum)! There are other restaurants and cafes close to the Art House Project, but on a day trip we found it easier to eat in the museum - so we had more time to cycle around after! It seemed a lot of restaurants also weren’t open all day (close ~2pm) and that made planning a bit more difficult for us (they also looked expensive) If you don’t plan on visiting Chichu Museum, or don’t want to pay for the food in the cafe - We would recommend bringing snacks or sandwiches for lunch! There is a 7/11 right near Uno Port Ferry which would be a good place to stock up on food :) Hopefully this helps you out!! Let me know if you need any more help :)

Hi thank you so much for the video. Just wanted to check on how to rent electric bikes for cycling?
@SeanJepp
@SeanJepp Жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for watching! There are lots of bike shops straight across the road from ferry port on the island. They are quite easy to spot, and employees can help sort out an electric bike :) The specific shop we went to had a big Yamaha sign and cost ~1000yen for the day. Good luck and enjoy if you are going, we highly recommend!

Loved your calming video, Sean and Mia! Thanks for sharing your transits as well - just wanted to know if it's possible to reach Naoshima from Osaka via other JR trains other than the shinkansen? Also, if you could pick just two museums/places of interest to visit, which one would you recommend? :) Thank you so much!
@SeanJepp
@SeanJepp Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Su-Yi!! The Shinkansen certainly makes it a faster trip and it is covered by JR Pass, but you can catch regular JR trains to Okayama Station(~2.5 hours rather than 1h from Osaka). From here just continue the same path that we took! If you’re going for a day trip this might take a bit too much time, so I would recommend spending a day in Himeji and Okayama on the way! The JR West website will help you, and says to transfer trains at Himeji and Aioi :) Our favourite museums were definitely the Chichu Art Museum and Benesse House (includes valley gallery)! Just by visiting these 2 you will be close enough to walk/cycle past a lot of the other outdoor exhibits. These two are definitely the best value for money and are great fun to explore :)) Let me know if you need any more help!

Hello! Your video is very good!(^^)! I also think your attitude towards deer was very nice, that's why the deer seems to have reacted you in a very cute mood. Why don't you visit Yokohama City which is the second biggest city in Japan, if you have an opportunity to do. There are so many tourist attractions and good food restaurants, including huge china town. A comment from Yokohama, Japan(^^)v
