I am a fan of Nora and an even bigger fan of Marianne McPartland but I find it offensive that Nora omits the essential words in this song: “Oh, ya’ daddy’s rich, an’ yo’ ma is good lookin’.” Stephen Sondheim proclaimed the lyrics to Summertime as “the best lyrics in musical theater”.
