It’s only a short distance but I can recommend going from Jude’s ferry to Worlington and back. I keep meaning to try Mildenhall to Jude’s Ferry but that would need to be done in spring or late autumn as it can get overgrown and weedy.

@timsytanker what time of year would you reccomend going? I was told I could go from worlington to the judes but not back due to the current, the water looked pretty calm in your video

@@finaldriveuk8357 in summer the flow isn’t very strong but there are plenty of biting insects so some repellent is a must! Going both ways is very easy.

Rule of thumb is that if the river is navigable by ‘pleasure craft’ then you need a licence, you don’t need one if the river is useable by paddle craft only but some sections may be ‘private’ - not sure how you can own a river! I joined British Canoeing, with membership comes a river licence which covers you for most things and keeps the ‘show us your licence’ brigade happy!

Starting out, one of the best paddles you can do is the river Bure, start at Little Hautbois and head up to Buxton Mill. Short but lovely - you may even see one of the steam trains 😊

I love ‘airliners and ships channel’ on KZfaq, only just found it but it sets the standard. If I could get anywhere near as good as those guys I would be happy! They film a lot at Rotterdam which looks an awesome port!

No, from Landguard point. Not a fan of Harwich, I find it a bit of ummm a dump! The best thing in Harwich is the burger van by Ha’penny pier.

It’s lack of ditch/ drain maintenance as well, just down the road from me it’s been completely flooded across the road for months (about welly high), an ‘expert’ from the council came out and said the drain was blocked - no s#|t Sherlock! Pot holes get mended and a month later they have returned to their natural holey state… The A14 near Stowmarket has been in a state of resurfacing for probably a couple of years, they ‘completed’ one side and started on the other only to have to start repairing the just completed part because it’s cr¥p…. We can’t seem to do anything well in this country these days! If my memory serves me rightly, when the M1 was built, they completed a mile every 8 days and built the bridges in 5, these days we get slowly get nothing done… Sadly I can’t see things changing, land will flood for months at a time, pot holes will continue to wreck cars, traffic will sit in mile long road works with no one about.

@@timsytanker Yes I totally agree, having driven over the most recently repaired part again, it is already delaminating and what does the contractor say 'A solution is being tested, until then it remains a temporary surface,' I absolutely agree with you.

It’s a lovely place to visit for drink any time of the year. There is footpath from Mildenhall to the pub following the river which is a great walk to work up a thirst 😊

In some ways it’s the perfect layout to take to a show, one big focus of attention, trains can run all the time, no complex track layout so very few ‘hands of god’ needed, easy(er) to transport and it looks great.

It was promoted as a 40’s event.

There was something a bit different about it this year…there was no quality glossy program and they were charging a quid for a bit useless folding map thing - this should have been free (and better!).
