Can the algae klear xtra and the pind klear water treatment be used in conjunction with each other?
@enviipond3 күн бұрын
Thank you for watching! We recommend using Algae Klear Xtra first, leave it 2-3 days then use Pond Klear. Other to that, they definitely can be used in conjunction with another and will actually work together. Steps 3 & 4 of this video should help you: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aeBigtB9x8zDfoE.html Hope this helps!

What if I have an actual pond?
@ranjanty7 күн бұрын
I just started a pond and I don't have any fish in it yet. I also kept most of the leaves out of it. I did put a few plants from some of my aquariums like water lettuce, hornwort. My water started turning green about a 2 weeks after filling it. I don't see why it did.
@enviipond19 сағат бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching. With new ponds it can take some time for the ecosystem to settle and this can cause what's known as 'new pond syndrome.' Give it some time but also try getting some beneficial bacteria in there (Envii Pond Klear or Pond Klear Xtra should do the trick depending on the size of the pond). That will definitely help get the water clear. Hope this helps.

If the pond sludge layer is too deep will it kill frogs. Is SludgeKlear more effective in Summer or Spring or Winter temperatures ?
@enviipond4 ай бұрын
It won't directly kill any wildlife but what could happen, is the sludge can become aerobic and begin to emit gasses into the water which becomes deadly for all wildlife and fish. This often smells like rotten eggs and is quite noticeable. Sludge releases nutrients into the water which is a good food source for blanket weed and algae which is another reason to limit it in your pond. Targeting sludge all year round is beneficial, whether that be in summer or winter. We recommend using Sludge Klear from the end of February/March till December & Winter Pond Treatment over the colder months. This will allow you to keep breaking down the sludge naturally and in the safest way possible. Please let us know if you have any further questions regarding your pond or any of our products! Thanks for watching!

I’m confused 10 degrees Fahrenheit, or Celsius I was under the impression that after the water truck forgets down to 39 we’re not supposed to feed anymore?
@enviipond4 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching! In the video, we refer to 10 degrees Celsius. This is the ideal temperature where we would recommend to stop feeding fish or at least begin to slow down the feeds as we move into the colder months. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

I’m surprised you’re showing the pump at the bottom of the pond, I thought this was a BIG NO, NO, incase the water escapes, the fish will have nowhere safe. This has happened to me a few times, fortunately I keep mine on one of the ledges.
@enviipond6 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching. We show in the video to lift the pump of the ground during the colder months. This is to prevent any warm water being removed from the pond and being replenished with cold water. You're fine to leave the pump at the bottom of the pond for the rest of the year though! Feel free to get in touch with us if you require any further information regarding this. You can email us at [email protected]
@pepsi6666 ай бұрын
I have my pump on a ledge the year round, it stops a lot of the sludge being sucked into the filter and clogging them up I clean the filters monthly, and clean the pond out every year, trim back all the plants, cut the roots back Usually about November

Is it worth getting a fake heron next to the pond?
@enviipond6 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching! Heron's are quite territorial so if they see another one at a pond, this will deter them. We'd still recommend having a net over the pond as the first priority. Sometimes, fake heron's don't always work so this gives you the protection for your fish. It's certainly still worth having one though as anything you can do to deter them, the better!

I'm mystified why people in UK think duckweed is a problem, Is is because you don't have as many hours of sunlight in a year perhaps as other countries? Here in NZ we need surface plants to cover 60--70% of the pond to prevent algal blooms. It is drawing nutrients out of the water and provides a home for other creatures as well. Duckweed is like gold!

That's good cause I'm gonna try it to make vermicompost. I've had a population crash this summer, so I'm gonna try and get my population up. I will also be applying it mulch style to certain heavy feeders in the garden.

Would sludge klear work in a wildlife pond without a pump/filter? Cheers. Great video
@enviipond9 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching! Sludge Klear will work in natural wildlife ponds, it may just take longer to see the expected results. This is mainly because you're relying solely on the bacteria to digest the sludge.
@pompeylad19779 ай бұрын
Very interesting video, cheers, I’ve got duckweed in my small wildlife pond and I scoop it out every few days which is a pain as I’ve got plants and rocks (for birds to land on to drink from the water) and it’s difficult to get the net in around.

@@enviipond I put three bales into my pond ten days ago but there is no improvement. Any idea how long they take to work? Thanks
@enviipond10 ай бұрын
@@hotelsierra86 It's most effective when you apply it as a prevention rather than cure. It can take anywhere from weeks to months before you see anything. We recommend using beneficial bacteria or a specific algae treatment instead if you're struggling with that. Algae treatments can work within a week whereas bacterial treatments will be a similar timeline to barley straw but we've always found bacteria to be much more effective. We have lots of pond blogs on our website that might be of use to you: www.envii.co.uk/category/all-pond/
