Just found this having a similar issue with my front door speaker. Also had water pour out when disconnected on passenger side. Hopefully the sound comes back but if not thanks still for the info.

@Jay_at_SMSI4 ай бұрын
you found the issue and yes dieelectric grease will keep the water out of the male/female connector clusters, but the issue originally is a bad design. The inner housing where you connect the door wiring snaps into a "plastic" housing. It should be a rubber boot around that housing to prevent moisture from entering. The main reason it enters is due to that. but forced water will do this immediately, like at a carwash. FIX: die electric grease inside the connections, yes, but also stick some weatherstripping around it too to make a cushion seal. 👌

Update: I’m starting to notice a correlation between using my windshield fluid and it starting back up again. Just thought I would throw that out there. This hack works to get it to come back but about a year later I used the washer fluid and boom, it was back to not working. I’m going to avoid using it from now on to see.

I was watching another video and the guy was saying that there is a leak by the windshield cowl that allows the water to get in

has anybody had any permanent damage to the amplifier due to this? any theory as to how/why the amplifier stops working? it’s not clear to me why it would shut down the entire system for this.

Mine always comes back but good question. It doesn’t make sence and Buick should figure it out. I use to have a 1996 ford windstar that’s head gasket blew at 50,000 miles. With some research, this was a recall in 1994 and 1995. Due to not enough complaints in 1996, they never recalled them. Seems to me they would have figured out what caused it and stop repeating the same mistake over and over.

I really need someone to go into details about how to drain to one in the sunroof. I'm so confused 😕
@mrs1975brown Жыл бұрын
And if you have an enclave with a sunroof the drain lines that come down from the sunroof get clogged and the water ends up in the fan under the passenger side and getting into the electrical box also so you need to unplug / clogged drain lines that come down the front behind windshield vertical trim at dash

Thanks, we only have tweeters consistently, I am trying this today. Dielectric grease sounds like a very important and great idea! I’m interested in seeing if I can use a caulking of some sort to make that plug water tight.. hmm.

Thank you for the video, I have a 2011 Buick regal, same problem, a good rain, car wash, water seems to get into the back passenger door and is slow to drain but the sound goes off including turn signal, back up sensor and radio has no sound for a while, I will look into your solution, thanks.

I seen this video shortly after purchasing my 2009 Enclave, radio works but only tweeters have sound. Low and behold, I had a ton of water. I poured it out and blew the air in. I’ve only owned it a little over a month. My drivers door speaker will come on randomly. It’s becoming more frequent. But no success with any others. I haven’t done everything mentioned simply because I don’t know if I need to replace wires first. My second GM, too many issues for me to ever buy again. It’s sad because they ride so smoothly, beautifully designed but way too many electrical issues
@tonymckay90312 жыл бұрын
We just purchased a 2010. We also have only tweeters consistently. We are going to look into this now to see if that’s the cause.

@@malcolm100107started working the next day. Which was the actual next time I got in the car. Once I turned the car off it didn't work the rest of the day. It's been raining daily here ever since. So we about to have a dry week I'll give a update after everything is dry and I can properly tape it off
@karlahernandez7522 жыл бұрын
How exactly did you dry the connector out... Did you leave it unplugged for several days and still use the vehicle? We just bought a 2012 Buick and last week I found your video and unplug the connector and behold there wasn't water pouring out of it but it was definitely wet
@superhollywood142 жыл бұрын
Hey sorry just saw you question. You can’t leave them unplugged and drive but I would take them out when I could. I also parked in the sun a lot. If you can get the radio back on, that’s when you want to do the tricks I listed. You have to be patient as it’s takes a few days, sometimes weeks to get it back on. One person mentioned compressed air. Mine would be off for a month in the rainy season. So annoying.
@amandachristian36852 жыл бұрын
How long do you have to wait to see if it dries out. I put the holes in the bottoms and water poured out.
@superhollywood142 жыл бұрын
It could take a while for it to dry out. Like even a week or maybe more. Did you use the grease? Once it kicks in, then make sure you have tape on top of it so water doesn’t go back in again.

Hoping it works for you. It’s a pain in the a$$. I will say that it had dried out for me when I did it so the radio was working when I did all of this. But it has rained a lot since and so far so good.
