If a story succeeds in yanking those feelings its doing something right. That's why I love Disney classics. You really feel close and sympathetic for the characters. It's that bond that we attach ourselves to those characters. It could even be relatability. I don't shy away from sad stories because I like great storys with great dialog and great characters. Disney, DreamWorks, Pixar, what ever film production it may be from those classics I will always hold dear equally.
