Silly question but why set 1250 if you're aiming for 1260?

This is one of my favorite pottery videos by far. Super clear instruction, and I have had great success with the technique

Rather than use the rib on the opposite side when shaping from the inside, why not just put the wheel in reverse and stay on the usual side for shaping? Thanks for the video.

I just today found you on KZfaq. Your aesthetic is exactly what I struggle to achieve. … AND… The struggle has been real. After watching your demonstration and instruction, I went to my pottery studio and threw one of my best bowls to date…. with relative ease at that… thank you. you are now on my following list. I will look for your book also. have a great day.

As so many have said this is an excellent video along with your patient teaching. Thank you Stuart. You are one of the few who actually show your hand positions for that 1st & 2nd critical pulls. Is there any way you could also provide a camera angle from the other side of the wheel so as to see it in action as it is so subtle. This is request will support/enhance the gesture so it is easier to emulate and reproduce. Again thank you

I think the most important thing you taught me today that will stick is focusing on throwing the inside of the pot. You can’t trim the inside. Thanks for sharing your knowledge

Great content. (I would love to see a tight camera shot on how you removed the bat from the clay pad with your tool - and subsequently how you repaired the clay pad from where you twisted the tool.)

Do you think its better to throw it thicker at the top? So when you stretch it open the thickness is more balance?
@stuartcarey4430
@stuartcarey4430 3 жыл бұрын
You don’t want it too thin as it will split when you spread it but I wouldn’t make it thicker personally as the idea is to end up with a nice thin rim. Try it both ways and see what works for you 🙂

After have read you book (italian translation not accurate, especially in details between ceramic and porcelain), fase 2 is to follow your actions on video. Impressive that you can throw in blind mode, looking in the camera :)
