Looks like fun. You appear to have taken appropriate safety precautions, but even so, you’re playing with fire.

HI Matt, what flying app. are you using on your phone? it seems pretty good. Thanks love your videos keep'em coming.

That was Canada Topo Maps I think which is a hiking app. I use FltPlanGo on my phone now. It's an aviation app, it's free, and works even better! :-)

Matt, I have enjoyed watching your videos over the past six months. I've been flying 172 and 182s and enjoy that, but I wouldn't mind trying an ultralight. What would be the major learning curve in your opinion.
@mmatt2 күн бұрын
Lack of inertia and eye-to-wheel height are the two main issues GA pilots have transitioning to ULs. They're very fun to fly once you get used to the differences though!

Hey matt great video. Ive never noticed the square thingies attached to the ailerons. Are these to balance or does the shape have some aerodynamic effect?
@candig21213 күн бұрын
Both you guys are so smooth on the controls. You make flying look and feel good. Awesome!

What are the spades or shovels under the wings inboard of the ailerons?
@kyleriv3 күн бұрын
You noticed them too. I. Thinking they are assist to reduce the amount of stick pressure needed.

Hi Matt I love your vidios I noticed you have aileron spades I am curious of how large they are and if they are at the same incidence as the ailerons I have a flightstar 2 with full span ailerons they are so heavy in bank . any thoughts on that do you think spades would help? Thanks!
@mmatt3 күн бұрын
Yes, they are set level with the ailerons. Mine are not very effective though. I think they should be at least twice as big due to the slow speeds my plane flies at. I based them off a Citabria which flies twice as fast but I didn't factor that it when I built them. Oops. lol

Not off hand, I'd have to measure it. If I remember, I'll try to do that next time I'm at the airport.

When you were following Kevin, I expected you to say "guns guns guns". Too bad Kevin doesn't have smoke to add to the effect. LOL Cheers from Winnipeg.

Hahaha! I typically use the "too close for missiles, switching to guns!" line.

What are those black counterweights?? on the ailerons?
@mmatt3 күн бұрын
They are aileron spades, an attempt to lighten the stick forces but they aren't as effective as I hoped they'd be. I think they need to be bigger.

Did you reflex the ailerons a little or is that just washout in the ailerons?
@mmatt3 күн бұрын
I think that's just the slack being taken up in the control cables. I never noticed it to be honest until I installed the tail cam.

If your using this as a dedicated 22LR, can you remove the gas tube, and flip the gas block around to cover the vent hole in the barrel? I believe this kit is works with blow back, and the gas system isn't required anyways.

@watashiandroid831415 күн бұрын
Aerobatics in the states are defined something like "an abnormal attitude or acceleration" (very vague), need 1500 ft AGL, there are no pilot requirements (regardless of carrying passengers or not), experimental planes need to test the maneuver in phase 1 and write the entry speed in the aircraft logbook (no requirement on who flies the test), and everyone needs a parachute if exceeding 30° pitch or 60° bank with a passenger. The other things (weather, populated areas, airspace) sound the same. Fun stuff Matt 🤙

I like your idea for the new series. If nothing else it will definitely give you a reason to fly more, and that’s always a good thing.
