I think its a hybrid between a solid and a liquid rocket engine. Probably liquid oxidizer+ solid fuel. Not sure tho.

It’s flown many times. Actually there’s a vid of this motor but slightly larger , going off the back of the mobile launch trailer.

You could also reverse them and spit the drug get up apogee and leave the main bound inside the tube and then deploy the main via cable cutters as I did in 2023… So it can be done either way but you need the plumbing if you’re doing single tube, shotgun style deployment sequence, the shoots separately out of the same tube… Hope that clarifies for you

Where does the oxidizer enter the chamber? Maybe I'm blind but I can't see a propellant line going into the top of the engine where I'd assume the injector is

This test was a floating injector Pyro valve… The oxidizer tank was loaded before it was put on the stand… that’s why you do not see any fill line or UC style line

It’s not about the money, it’s about the enjoyment in building and the assembly of the vehicle, the lessons learned from previous experiences…ect. What I will say, Hypothetically speaking, if someone wanted to just have it built for them they would be looking at $$$$. to build, in materials, machinery time, labor ect… but the beauty of Hybrid motors is there cheep to fly Vs A.P.C.P. motors.

Anywhere from a Rude an crude hybrid for $10 using a whip cream cartridges and chunk of nylon to a full blown hybrid build like this….endless opportunities of cost ranges. I’d emphasize you to do it, you will enjoy the process!

Hey Alex, I have a question about the solenoid valve on top of the N2O tank. Is that a vent open/shut valve? If so are you controlling it via the Kate system? Does it have an output that can drive the solenoid valve directly?

It is a vent solenoid that is controlled remotely manually via push button or automatically in auto mode, controlled by GSE Logic. It’s simple basic Logic… but currently working on a App to open an close Fuel bank A & B based on time an pressure, fuel bank switching is currently controlled via a asymmetric timer switching banks every 8 minutes. You could use Kate to control it with the Solid state relay, but you would still need to run ground power, aka 12vdc on a break away wire… currently implemented. There’s absolutely no need for the extra battery weight on the vehicle… plus the SSR is currently controlling the on board cameras in my case.. hope that answers your question.

Only 56,823 Agl but only a half load of oxidizer and a oversized nozzle so its only performing @ 3/8's of it full potential.
