I remember being a young white boy standing on the corner in my small town of Poway in beautiful southern California...... breeze blowing softly by as I walked along.... when suddenly a friend pulled over to give me a ride. The click told me that a song was just about to play on his 8 track...... Oh Girl... Yeah the Chi-lights ! Today I am an old man , living in Arizona... and often looking back at those days.... and waiting for these songs to play...... , like my friend.... to pick me up and take me back there once again . I am now pushing 70 and yet I still recall the brocade material of the seat I was about to slide onto , the roof was warm where I grabbed onto to get in. The oval outline of the speaker with the cloth stretched over it and the 8-track stuck below the dash and above the tightly woven carpet. My window crank was shiney chrome with a black plastic knob on the end of it. I had to pull something out that was sticking me in the back....yanking... Oh Girl....it was starting...yanked out that big shiney seatbelt and relaxed untl this song was done. I remember Monty,s face as we looked over at each other without a word.... Oh yeah.... this my friend is as good as it gets ! If only new music knew had much is missing from their music today. It,s OK.... WE Know ! Play it again Eugene !
