@@jackchen7003 There are plans in place for a complete overhaul of the service by 2029, which includes the extension to Newton, KS, as well as “increased service along the original route.” According to the original report by “AmtrakConnectsUS.com”, Amtrak’s vision extends the existing Heartland Flyer route to serve Wichita and link to Amtrak’s Southwest Chief, as well as: • Expand from 1 to 3 round trips between Oklahoma City (OKC) and Fort Worth (FTW), connecting with Texas Triangle services to Dallas, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio, and the Texas Eagle to Los Angeles, Tucson, St. Louis, and Chicago. • Extend 1 Fort Worth - Oklahoma City round trip to Wichita and Newton, KS (NEW) for a connection with Amtrak’s Southwest Chief to Los Angeles, Albuquerque, Kansas City, and Chicago

That's a nice train. I was supposed to be on it last Monday but my connecting train Texas Eagle got cancelled. At least I was able to get to Newton, KS via the Southwest Chief. @@RedRiverRailfan When are they looking to connect the Newton, KS to OKC segment? It's tough, I'm sure to get out of the train around 2:15 to take a bus around 3 something to OKC. I was a bit fortunate in that the Chief left four hours behind schedule and I had a roomette. I got off around 5:40. By the way, Amtrak notified me of the Texas Eagle cancellation when I was on the Lakeshore Limited and thankfully, I was able to book a roomette on the Chief.

Great review and fanning. I hear a lot of people also ride the Flyer because flights are cheaper in Fort Worth. Is that true?

@@Seawiz21 very much so!!! Flights are way more inexpensive out of DFW airport because it’s much higher traffic than OKC. Many passengers onboard were going directly from the train to TexRail to go to the airport

Wow! That’s crazy. The closest I’ve ever personally been to seeing a blow back was at the Texas State Railroad in 2021. As T&G.30 was pulling into the station it wheel slipped and shot fire out of the sides of the firebox. It was pretty crazy!

Emotions are part of life, even for men. A man should be a stable and brave protector but not a blubbering idiot. Except for the things that matters and the ones he loves. A man can keep his man card and still sob tears of pride over this speech about his country.
