I have a Poly Panel 300W & a Mono 300W. The Poly registers 18.8V & the Mono 18V The Currents are, 3.8A & 4.1A, Actual Measurements. Can I add them together in one configuration or the other? Would it be better to feed into two controllers then into one?

It is always better to feed into two controllers if you already have two controllers laying around. That is the only way to get max power out of both panels when their specs are that different.

Thank you for the great video! I am considering buying from Battery Evo and I’ve been a bit concerned about all of the accusations of Battery Evo using recalled or used battery cells. What’s your opinion on that?
@LDSreliance
@LDSreliance 18 сағат бұрын
First of all, 80%+ of the market uses Grade B cells. I have several videos on that on my channel if you want more in depth explanation. Grade B cells aren't necessarily bad, you just need to know that is what you are buying so you can make an informed decision on your investment. They are not comparable to Grade A cells. But second of all, they have used them in the past when they were the OEM provider for Big Battery. Big Battery dictated that decision, though, according to what I have heard. Now that they have had a messy divorce, BatteryEVO can make their own decisions and I am told they use only Grade A cells and all of their batteries are assembled in Panama. I cannot verify any of this but I am using this battery in my off grid solar panel system on my homestead and it performs well so far. So take that for what it is worth. I would encourage you to call BatteryEVO and speak with their customer service guys. You will get a live human being on the phone, which is better than any Amazon seller. Anyway, ask them about their cells and ask for proof in the form of cell testing data from the cell manufacturer that they use. They should be able to provide that if the cells are genuine.

I mean they are better than lead acid in many ways, but the lies and bs is off the charts. I did another video that said basically that they shouldn't need to lie and mislead customers to buy these. They stand superior on their own merits for a lot of customers. But that doesn't apply to all customers. And lead acid isn't going anywhere any time soon.

Addendum: The solar panels in themselves are capacitors. Also, if you use the minimum amount of panels then the load voltage will drop rapidly. I figured it was a long shot, but like I said only if you can. The smaller AC is a good start if there are no good options. Wish I could help you troubleshoot it (I fix machines for a living) but you can figure it out I am sure. Also measure the output voltage before and after the AC starts to see if the voltage is dropping under load. Just try to get a true rms meter if at all possible.

I have a true RMS meter (supposedly) but I am not very good at knowing how to use it other than the basics of reading DC voltage and using the clamp to measure current. Supposedly it has an inrush function, too, but i've never figured out how to use it. I'll read up on the manual. I am going to go over all of the connections in the system tomorrow and make sure everything is tight and right first and then go from there. I am also going to use an infrared thermometer to see if that can give me any clues.

Just to make sure I understand properly... In your exemple.. the odd panel always had either the voltage or current either higher or lower than the other panels.. one of those 2 values had to go either up or down (amp/volts).. In my set up, if I have an odd panel that has both a lower voltage and a lower current.. this panel would drag the value of the series/parallel down no matter what, right? It would be a lost of current AND voltage for the array and it would be idiotic to add the odd one then, right? Asking for a friend 😅😂

At 4:00, To simplify my thought, does'nt the kwh produced simply run the meter backwards during the day and then when its off the meter runs forwards using up all the power we generated all day? You seem to be implying I have to produce 4 times more power during peak hours to offset the nightime use, (only spinning the meter backwards at .06 kwh while spinning it forward at .25 kwh under all circumstances). This seems innacurate but I certainly see where the power company would do that. If you are correct, then the best we could hope for is a system sized to perfectly keep the meter from spinning forward during peak hours, and certainly not one that runs the meter backwards at all, correct? Sorry for the confusing manner of my question, I am still trying to figure out how to ask it. Is there any way to just get credited one for one per kwh, or is it .06 no matter what, meaning we would really need an expensive battery bank to get full use out of not running the meter forward? Hmmm, does a kwh IN always equal .06 and a kwh OUT always equal .25 in your scenerio, or does the first hour out in the evening come from the hours I put into the grid during the daylight?
@LDSreliance
@LDSreliance 11 күн бұрын
No, that is not how it works in the majority of the country. What you are describing is 1:1 net metering. In other words, 1 input from you = 1 output from them. That is no longer the case. Utilities are paying 1/2 or less (sometimes as low as 1/12) for your power as they charge you for theirs.

I quickly saw that the 6 panels were not sufficient. So I tried getting another 6 but now all a sudden they are discontinued. After a huge hunt I tracked down 4. But I'm still 2 panels short of where I'd like to be. I did find 495 watt panels of a different brand but the voltages and current is higher than my existing 1s. So what would happen in this scenario. They are wired in series

Thanks! I just didn't like the game that the sponsored reviews involved. I am sure you are seeing some of that on your channel by now. Or giving a review in good faith based on a thorough initial test only to find out that the company is no longer in business or has pulled their products 2 months later. Or that their product worked well at first but 6 months later is dead. Plus, it distracts me away from doing this kind of stuff, which is the whole reason I started the channel in the first place. I'll let Will Prowse and others chase the affiliate money. But I won't shy away from showing products that I am really using in my systems and what I think of them. Kind of informal reviews, I guess.
