So many memories so much fun. Summers seemed to last forever.

Dam , I never had anything like this . I worked when I was 8 year old . My dad would get paid for the work I did and I never ever got one red cent of it , I did managed to build a bike from throw aways bent rims and all . Then I had to ride it to work and back . No play like this . I could not have any friends ether . I ended up leaving home at age 13 . Never been back once . I never looked back once ether . Now I just remember back .

The Alaskan bush is still like this. I grew up in a village in tue mud by the river and all we ever did was bike around without helmets I think it has something to do with a lack of technology.

"Evel Knievel" had a strong influence on a lot of us. We started out with small jumps and got ridiculously out of control. Our ramps were so high that we broke bicycle frames, rims, handle bars and had so many trips to the ER that my mom wouldn't take me anymore, because she was worried about getting into trouble herself having to explain where all these injuries were coming from. We even built our own chopper bikes. Then, we got dirt bikes as we got older! Boy were those days wild. Great video, thanks for sharing. 🎉

Q: "Dad, why didn't you have to wear bicycle helmets when you were a kid ?" A: "Because we weren't pussies son"

There are not enough words in the human language to truly convey the admiration and appreciation to the wonderful person who had the foresight and the passion to capture these truly amazing moments and experiences. This has by far been one of the happiest times that I have ever spent on KZfaq. The emotion that I am experiencing right now is on the one hand shocking to me but at the same time, it is truly healing. I had no photos or home movies of my childhood. My friends. Our moments. But we grew up just as you and your friends did. So I will live through your movie. Thank you for that.

Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I come from a very crappy childhood where everyone chose to be depressed, my mother and father fought like cats and dogs, my father was the biggest "ba-humbug" scrooge type and it was just overall a very horrible experience as a child. But I refuse to allow that to ruin my Christmas almost 50 years later. I love the season and just b/c they didn't like it, doesn't mean I can't love every moment! Merry Christmas 2023 everybody! To the USA and the entire world, May Joy Be in Your Heart!!!!

Before there was BMX there was the Sting Ray. A couple of old bricks, a 2x4 and you were on your way. The Sting Ray debuted in 1963 for around 50 bucks.

Fun Fact: Back in the 1970’s we rode our bikes in INSANE ways, building the most sketchy franken-bikes we possibly could using parts from multiple different bikes (some parts fit, some didn’t, but that never stopped us)… we would careen down large hills onto wood ramps we build from questionable leftover lumber, rusted nails and whatever else we could find… and yet… we never wore helmets, and no one ever died or got severely injured other than minor fractures. There simply wasn’t any epidemic of head injuries. And that was ALL anyone did in the 1970’s was ride bikes for hours and hours and hours every day. Fast forward to today: Parents can get dragged into court for allowing kids to not have a helmet on for the 5 minutes they are riding a bike on a nice safe sidewalk.

Brings back memories when you could just ride your bike and meet up with your friends for a good time without adult supervision. All the good times we had....so much freedom. 70's...a great time to be a kid.

I Love this Video...I remember every Kid in the 70's had a Dragster Bike and a Home Made Ramp... You then got your mates or neighbours to lay on the ground and you would hopefully jump over them...No one wanted to be the kid on the end of the line...Great Times and a Great Video...Thank You for Posting It.
