I've started with unschooling with the hopes of worldschooling or a combination of both in the future. It has been pretty challenging with the travel restrictions but my kids are young still (5 and 7), and I am able to stay home with them so that's been nice. Thank you for the tips for the Galileo program! I think my kids are a bit young right now for it but I think it would be a lovely option in the future when they are less shy. thank you!

The balance between earning money to support your kids and then actually being PRESENT and emotionally present with your kids is rough! I am in my first year of homeschooling and this has been the main struggle for us. Either we have lots of time to be together or we have more money to pay for programs for my daughter to attend.

@@craigakerman3581 that is AMAZING!!! So excited for you. It means so much that we've been able to help you learn more and that is the whole point of starting WSC... Did you see there is a Co-Working Retreat and Summer Camp for Worldschooling families in Portugal this summer?
@craigakerman35813 жыл бұрын
@@WorldschoolingCentral Thank you Karen for replying to my comment. We are all very enthusiastic about the adventures ahead! I did see the Co-Working Retreat, thanks for mentioning - it might well be an option that we take up in the future. We are fortunate that my wife is a qualified school teacher and has previously home-schooled our children through the recent lockdown which went surprisingly well with our youngest two so our intentions are that my wife will home-school the youngest two for subjects like Maths and English and then we plan to enrol my eldest in an online schooling program which we think he will enjoy. In addition to the normal home-schooling / online program we plan to incorporate the country that we are staying in at the time, to their learning which is where the 'world schooling' side will come into play for subjects like Science, Geography, History, Art etc but even with English we plan to incorporate a bit - so at the moment we are planning a mixture of home-schooling / world schooling with them but like with anything we will see how it goes and make tweaks along the way.

How can you become an Engineer by travelling?
@WorldschoolingCentral3 жыл бұрын
Of course there will be some professions that require additional education - if the last 12 months has taught us anything, there is so much you can learn online. For those professions that require University, Worldschooled kids not only have far greater world experience than a child that has been in a traditional education setting, but they also know HOW to learn, as opposed to just learning what they are told. As a result, Universities are very interested in Worldschooling kids as candidates! :D Where there is a will there is a way.

Sorry maybe I'm a bit confused at around 15 mins in, I thought worldschooling was about having you kids learn ( education) while traveling with parents. You asked what a typical day looked like worldschooling your kid and she talked about grocery shopping or acquiring food in different destinations. Did I miss something?
@WorldschoolingCentral3 жыл бұрын
Grocery shopping is a part of living and learning! You might be surprised by what you can learn in a supermarket. It's a great place to learn about other cultures, and how they do the simple tasks that you do in your home country. It's also a great way to learn math, by comparing pricing, and also currency conversions! :D
@maisieliberty13193 жыл бұрын
Grocery shopping is different experience in different countries, involves language learning as you look at labels for different foods and problem solving skills, real life maths, currency exchange calculation, seeing local markets, practicing foreign language, trying new foods, using maps to find the market, seeing the buildings in another country on your way there and how they're different and the history behind that, communication styles are different in different countries even the culture of the checkout can be different and an interesting culture shock experience, markets are organised and provide different products in different places also, negotiation skills and more. So much is discovered and learnt when doing everyday things with children and that's even more so when in a different country with a different culture and language. ☺️

While Grocery shopping you can teach your kids math. Also price difference and making better financial decisions. Anything we do in our daily life can be a teaching moment.
