Hi Roger. The breeching rope that you discussed in the video loops around the bulbous part at the back end of the gun. The eyebolts on the ends of the breeching rope are mounted into the bulwarks (typically below where the tackle is mounted). Hope that helps.

Love this design, what is the thickness of the concrete board? Is that like a hardie backer board you could use for a shower too?
@RogerRamjetman12 күн бұрын
I think it's 1/4 " or 5 / 16 " and it has a wood grain finish on one side. It has to be sealed or painted for wet locations, I think its concrete and fiber board sold at Home Depot.

@@RogerRamjetman thank you! I just tore apart some old owner DIY that just had plywood on both sides with a gap in the middle, found a nice wasp nest during demo. Did you nail the board to the 1x2 frame or just like liquid nail it?

Gun port covers should be on the lower ports since they keep out the water when closed. Not needed on the upper deck.

Looking good Roger. Does the kit include any false frames for the inside of the hull, above the deck, as it kind of looks a bit bare unless the canons will be there instead.

Hopefully I am not too late commenting. The instructions have you build and mount all of the decks first. Consider adding all details such as the guns to the gun deck before adding the main deck. It can be nearly impossible to rig the guns when the main deck is already installed.
@philsreef7462 ай бұрын
Great progress so far but more importantly hope you’re doing well Roger. I often use scissors to trim deck planking if I feel there is little or no support when using a knife. Just one thought though, maybe plank the decks first before fitting to reduce cutting the small pieces around the frames etc.

Umm....I have built several wood ship models, and I have never used pins (maybe my first, but I soon learned they are worthlesss.) Plank benders are also worthless. Just soak your planks in very hot water, and then form them around your existing frame.
@RogerRamjetman2 ай бұрын
The pins need to be a very small diameter.And I only need to stick through just a little bit.Normal to keep the point tied to the frame while the glue dries if your plank is all wet glue is not gonna dry good
