What are we seeing differently with the saw guard removed? Seriously. We don't need to physically see the saw cutting the board. We know what goes on there. Keep your safety guard in place.

This is truly the most helpful and amusing information I have found in weeks!! I needed to know how to work with shellac........but not french polishing! mahogany chest. No one is discussing this. Just finished parts of this chest and struggling with the residual oil?? difficult getting around the single carved at bottom, but its not too badly done. And yes, this is quite a few years after the production.

Bandsaw safety : My father grew up in Elkins, WV. from 1904 to 1926. At one time, in my youth, he told me about a man being accidently cut in two by a bandsaw. At the tim e, I had never seen a bandsaw any bigger than those in a high school woodshop and couldn't imagine such a severe accident. later in life, I was in Cass, WV. and saw a large bandsaw, capable of 200.000 board feet per day. The blade is 65 feet long and 19 inches wide. The carriages feed the log into the saw at extremely high speed (90 MPH?). A careless worker might fall in the way of the carriage and be carried into the blade! What a horrible way to go!

Wait...the table comes *off* ?!? Blades *fold* ?!? You can unfold them without a first aid kit open and your wife yelling "Be careful this time, honey!" And I'm less than two minutes in. A life changing video -- I will never be the same. And I'm only about 20% kidding.

Oh "THANK YOU" . Having bought my bandsaw 3 years ago I made all the rookie mistakes I thought it was a waste of time and money so it sat in the corner gathering dust. Watched this hoping it would help. Followed your tutorial to the letter and blew my mind when I got a perfect straight cut 5mm thick . Total gratitude to you for sharing your knowledge. Excellent information for a newbie and a great review for experienced DYIers. Now I understand doing a climb cut on a guitar body and why it reduces chip out. Very clear explanations of why you do, or not do, a climb cut, and why it leaves a wavey, wonky cut line.

That was great. I never got mine to track straight. The main worries i had was him brushing the top whilst it was running and also not using a pushstick when he cut that first board. I remebr this butcher who backed into his bandsaw, he got a little behind in his work.😜

If the thrust bearing distorts the blade direction, why is it there at all? And why does it touch when you put pressure on it? If the reasoning is that pressure makes it bend, why wouldn't you have it really far back? So I don't think the reasoning provided logically makes sense given that it touches anyway.

Thanks for this video. My dad gave me his old bandsaw telling me that the guide bearings were worn out. Since i know nothing about bandsaws, this gives me a bit of confidence about where to start...removing the table. Lol. I now have hope that i can progress through your advice and actually get to use it.

The best bandsaw setup video, ever. I'm shocked that there aren't more likes to it, but I have to assume that a lot of people just can't be bothered, because this is very well presented, and chock full of the most useful information out there.

I'm used to larger, corded routers kzfaq.infoUgkxfQ5_mgwq6PcudJvAH25t-I4D-3cTPz4z so this was a different experience for me. Basically, this is an incredibly sweet machine, fits well in the hand, etc. It has slightly less power than I'm used to, but that's understandable. Maneuvering freehand takes some practice. These days, it's especially nice to be able to avoid power cords. This is above the level of a hobbyist but below a pro level.
