To be honest it's a very simple but also very old bike. You need to prepared to service everything like a restoration. I would think it would be near to impossible to find a well maintained for sale. Having said that, if you are willing to work on it yourself it should be easy and cheap to fix. But the only way to make the engine run properly is full rebuild of the carburettor which can easily cost you £200-£300. I would also expect the fuel tank to be rusty

Neat, congrats ! Love the displays - did you hack them ? ! I notice the indicated rpms dont match the analog gauge - calibration needed ? Have you made a PCB or is it still a wired prototype ? What is the rpm sensor ? I imagine packaging a challenge ? (ESP32 and 8266 and displays in the 'clocks' and maybe GPS a in a waterproof case under seat / tank also ?), what is the rssi of the ESPnow wifi transmissions ?. GPS satellite visibility an issue ?
@goozlo

Esp32 is the main cpu, esp8266 is inside the rpm gauge and controls the round tft screen. They talk with espnow. I should have done the same for the 2 screen in the speed gauge, instead I use a multiplexer and i2c extender directly from the esp32. No pcb yet, just got everything running and still have a couple small changes to do in the hardware. For now I have everything under the tail in a waterproof box. To read the rpm I use the signal from an extra rpm gauge, that produces a much cleaner signal. Still not perfect but good enough and I do some filtering in the software. I believe that at least at low rpm my digital reading is more accurate than the analogue gauge. I use interupts in microseconds. Remains to be seen at higher rpm. It does a few more things that you saw in the video, I'll upload updates

@@goozlo Hmm I guess you could either filter the analog signal with a resistor/capacitor as well as a digital filtering algorithm. 'Noise' could be an indictor that the processor isnt keeping up with the interrupts, you might be able to add a debug flag for that. Also real time programming with interrupts can be tricky, maybe use freeRTOS primitives available for ESP. Best !

On my ESP 8266 + GPS speedometer setup I actually threw in a 555 timer creating a 10-minute delay on powering it off, (and the power signal to my radio also) that way if I stop to get gas or drop off something it doesn't have to search for GPS again or restart my music initiation process. The 555 just turns on a relay that is signaled when ignition is first on and has a turn-off delay when the ignition signal goes away. Great stuff! I was planning on having my ESP also run a web server so I can adjust it from a web page with my phone, calibration parameters for the sensor readings. I might even add a flutter app that talks to it over Bluetooth, but I'm guessing that would interfere with ESP Now? Just throwing you some ideas that I have to make your life more complicated as well! Haha Good luck, friend! I look forward to seeing any type of motorcycle mods.
