The Cape is best between just after Labor Day and Columbus Day. The crowds are mostly gone, the traffic jams have lessened. And the waters along yhe southern coast are still warm enough to swim in. Fares for the car ferry to MV start going down. As a long time Massachusetts resident, I stay away from the Cape during the summer. Also, it's not unusual to have 6 mile backups at the bridges to either get on the Cape or off the Cape

And it's not just ocean swimming to be had; one thing people never seem to ever mention or talk about is that there are actually quite a lot of very decently sized lakes on Cape Cod too.

You're not actually supposed to go anywhere the "lagoon" (marsh) side of Wood neck. There are signs that specifically say that.

Hello! How long of a vacation are you planning? Experiencing Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard AND Nantucket all in one trip is pretty ambitious (and not really possible!) You might consider splitting your time between Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. Edgartown is located on the island of Martha's Vineyard, as is the Alpaca Farm. There are plenty of beautiful beaches there, as well as on Cape Cod. Great job Jennie. The Cape and Islands are easily my favorite region of the northeast. We were lucky enough to live on the Vineyard for 5 years. I don't know if someone out there can answer this question; Years ago I went to a beach, pretty sure it was in the town of Brewster. At the right time in the tide cycle you could walk out a quarter mile and the water was only up to your mid thighs. It may have been something like Cahoon Hollow or Calhoun Hollow. Does that sound right?

Let's see . . . there's an ocean beach in Wellfleet called Cahoon Hollow, but in Brewster (the town where the tide goes out for miles!) the beaches are: Crosby Beach, Breakwater Beach, Saints Landing, Robbins Hill, Paine's Creek, Ellis Landing, Linnell Landing, Point of Rocks Beach, Mant's Landing, and a new one this year-First Light! Do any of these sound familiar to you? We hope you get the chance to come back and wade back in to lovely Cape Cod Bay!

I've lived and summered on the Cape most of my 74 years , but please it's "ON the Cape", not "In the Cape"! Also, it's not a peninsula anymore, hasn't been ever since the put the Cape Cod Canal in, in 1912! So, technically it's an island surrounded by water on four sides, the Cape Cod Bay, the great Atlantic ocean, Nantucket Sound and the Cape Cod Canal! Have fun and drive safely, the roads here are the same ones they had in the 1800s only paved over! This is not the Indianapolis 500! Parts of the highways are called "Suicide Alley" because so many have been killed here thinking this is the 500! And please no littering, help keep "America, the Beautiful", beautiful! Thanks~♥♥🏖
