I'm a big fan of your Tundra build....it's pretty darn close to what I want to do with mine. It looks like you have the body mount chop, did you do anything with the pinch weld above it? So far I've seen two options, bending it over or cutting out and welding it back together. Do you have any insight on this??
@SeanHillaker7 ай бұрын
I trimmed about 8" of the pinch seam behind the liner, obviously bmc, trimming of stock bumper, and keeping your wheel offset to +32mm to +12mm.

i was about to say this is a new place i haven't seen then the ending gave it away. I found it while google mapping up and down the river. Really cool place and on the week day not many people there. it's a fun place to practice riding on sand and looser rocks as long as river isn't too high! I live 30 or so minutes from there and ride a T7 if you ever decide you need a buddy to go on bigger adventures. I keep putting off on going on big trips here lately.

I see you took off your round lights in the front. No need for them anymore? Just seeing if getting a set for my truck would be worth it.. thinking about getting ditch lights as well so might not spend the extra for lights in the front..

I'm stoked to see you make another video. Side note: Did you pull the bead locks and center cap for a noise (trying to find the clicking) or for aesthetics?
@Kallu.Media1 Жыл бұрын
Most likely did it for the looks. The rings won't make the clicking noise its the center caps. The have a small ring retainer that will come loose and click with each rotation. Only super noticeable at super slow speeds. I got the same clicking noise on my rock warrior wheels

Have you had problems with your drive shaft?
@SeanHillaker Жыл бұрын
Nope no issues ever with the driveshaft or drive train in the rear. I do have a 1" carrier bearing drop. Comparing to a 6" or 7" lifted truck the angles are a lot worse.
@gfgneo Жыл бұрын
@@SeanHillaker i see. I have the kings set or at least i was told 3 inches and now a year later i have a terrible noise. Im pretty sure my tie rods are shot but now i think it may be the drive shaft as well
@SeanHillaker Жыл бұрын
@@gfgneo tie rods from your steering up front? Or are you talking about U-Joints on the drive shaft? Lifting up to 3.5" usually is a lot for your front CV Axles so if you turn too hard under load you could blow them and they start clicking everytime you turn.
@gfgneo Жыл бұрын
@@SeanHillaker both. I get clicking noises when i turn the wheel but only when driving not when i have the truck jacked up. I also hear a sound sometimes when i shift i to reverse ( sounds like the drive shaft videos on youtube). Im going to take the truck in tomorrow to get a better diagnosis. Maybe i should buy some beefy tie rods from BDS suspension? Or it could be the rack and pinion? Maybe i should have just gotten 33 in tires instead of the 35s lol well either way the wife isnt going to be happy about this especially after spending all that mo ey on the lift and the teuck is only a year old
@SeanHillaker Жыл бұрын
@@gfgneo Yeah mostly the CV axles clicking is a sign that they're about to go or damaged (from the lift and turning super sharp or you had 4x4 and turned on pavement). As for the driveshaft sound I get a loud pop shifting from park into drive or reverse if you're on an incline. That is fairly normal parking on an incline and slowly getting louder over time if you don't use the parking brake vs just "P"

At the time I towed my jetski but that was only 3000lbs at most but I have pulled the largest Uhual trailer across the country with trailer and furniture pushing 6500lbs and I drive pretty aggressive. If you look at the stock receiver it won't be hard to over build it and make it stronger

Not sure what psi you were running, but looked more than 20. Go down to 15 next time it’ll help with the tire spin. Sick video
@SeanHillaker2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I only went down to 20psi on this run however that and the fact these tires were practically bald at this point didn't help. I ran this trail again last year and dropped down to 16psi but due to the weight of the truck I came super close to popping a bead with all the weight on one front tire.
@aaronaviles44642 жыл бұрын
@@SeanHillaker get you some bead locks! You deserve it 😂 do you have any regrets buying a full size truck for off-roading? I have a 1gen access cab. As my family is growing I’ve really considered going to a 2nd gen.

Welcome back to Texas! Nice truck, like that bed rack. I would de-badge to remove everything. did that on my 16 Inferno and it just gave it that clean look, just don't care for the chrome. Going to change the tranny fluid, this weekend since it's going to be in the '60s been putting it off but after hearing you, I'm not anymore, just hit 120 on mileage. We like the grasslands, take my 8 yr old son camping there every year.

Hey I love your build on 37’s. I have the same TRD rims but plan on running 35’s. Question, did you have to do a body mount chop to fit those tires and rims? Trying to avoid doing a body chop if at all possible. I plan on running the same King front coil overs.
@SeanHillaker2 жыл бұрын
It's going to depend on your wheel offset if you'll rub or not. When I had 35s I did not do a Body Mount chop but used 1.5" wheel spacers with my stock wheels and had no rubbing besides trimming the front bumper.

@SeanHillaker2 жыл бұрын
Yes all vehicles have this lean due to the gas tank. You'll need to add a Coach Builder shim .25" on top of your front driver side coilover to level out the truck
