I had a secondhand 525 for a few years ,last combine we had before using contractors ,quite a few problems with the secondary beater at back which threshed the straw before it hit the ground ,it did not like damp straw which we could not avoid in a late Scottish harvest and sometime wrapped a blocked combine taking ages to cut with a penknife ,i prefered our previous MF500 which rarely let us down

SLOW THE REEL SPEED TO JUST FASTER THAN FORWARD SPEED....or you may end up shattering the ears before they get in the combine....lovely model though,

You must be missing some sections in the knife because it's not cutting right in front of the right wheel

Nice baler, a few nice old combines too. A massey 780, massey 525, Ransomes crusader amongst them. I would like a Massey 701 with engine. They do fetch good money.

Something's not quite right. There's a line of uncut wheat under the combine. Missing blade or something similar.

In the very hot summer of 1976, when I was just fourteen, I first drove one of these! That was set up with a very unusual configuration with a swather or pick-up reel that gently lifted a five foot swath cut with an International B23 mower two or three days before. The crop was S 184 Wild White Clover seed and S 23 Ryegrass seed. Of course there was the inevitable comment about a "Tom Tit on Hayrick." That was in Herefordshire. I hope nobody thinks I am viewing this rose tinted glass, but they were happier times. People worked hard for not much money, but people looked out for each other.
