Great point about when the internet gets one dominant company innovation goes downhill. Exactly what we've seen happening for the last 10 years with Google. Though the internet has been split up I think in different categories, so you could argue each category has its own dominant player; Facebook with social media (and messaging), Google for search and advertisement, etc. It's been 10 years today since Steve Jobs passed away, and I was thinking about how he actually changed the world and it all comes down to one thought; what if Steve did not return to Apple. The iPod would not have been made, the iPhone would not have been made, the iPad, etc. Without the iPhone I strongly believe social media would not have been such an enormous succes as it has been now with mobile phones. His impact was so incredibly big, it's amazing.
