Las palabras no alcanzan para describir la música que hacen estas 2 personas Pat Metheny y Lyle Mays. Llevo estudiandola años, no me aburro y sigo creciendo musicalmente cada vez mas. RIP Lyle Mays.

One of the most profound experiences of my life was experiencing this concert from the third-row center aisle with a clear view of the whole stage in front of me in Salt Lake City. Watching this fills my body with memories and emotion. RIP Lyle.

This number is a real masterpiece. So complex in its structure, yet so tightly presented by these expert musicians. Miss the great Lyle Mays. May he RIP. Oh, and by the way, did anyone notice how Antonio casually pulled a guitar and started strumming away before switching back to the drums? That is crazy, and I know most of these guys are multi-instrumentalists.

Music from heaven. All if them at the absolute pinnacle of musicianship. I saw them in the 80s in Manchester. Pat and Lyle are god-given.

I'm sitting in my car, in my driveway, balling my eyes out, after seeing this videos numerous times and finally realizing the brilliance of this music. Jeeeeeeez, Pat's playing his heart out, Lyle''s in the moment, Steve's is steady as always, Antonio is on point. And Vu, Lando, and Gregorie bring it home. JEEEEEEEZ!!!

Why did Pat left his group? the other things he did ... I do not comment thiat
@santibanks5 ай бұрын
I don't think it's a question of Pat "leaving" this group or "disbanding" it. For Pat, everything he does is just one long story. The group, his trios and quartets, solo playing, it's all one continuum. But what I suspect is that the reason this was the last major thing the PMG did is a combination of things: 1) I suspect Lyle wanted to quit the music scene. Perhaps he was even already diagnosed with his illness (which probably was a form of cancer), 2) I believe Lyle was of the opinion that he did not have much else to say musically, 3) maybe that both Pat and Lyle felt that after the Way Up, it would be difficult to conceive what avenues the Group should explore. This was the height of the group, if there was a mission or goal or objective for the group then they probably achieved it with the Way Up. So Pat just continued doing all kinds of things, Lyle kind of retired from the industry (though they would do a small tour in 2009/10 as a quartet), and that was basically it. Steven continued to work with Pat on many records since as producer (From this place might be the last one he did). Antonio has of course been in Pat's bands since that time. Cuong would later invite Pat on one of his records. Nando stayed in touch with Pat but they never got to record again (trivia: Nando played some shows with the PMG in the early 90ies to basically fill in for Pedro Aznar-their relation goes back since the 80ies when Pat was living in Brazil), Gregoire Maret played on Pat's From this place record. Lyle recorded his last thing before he passed away, "Eberhard", a suite of music dedicated and inspired by Eberhard Weber. Interestingly, Pat was also doing a project in honour of Eberhard Weber (that was released on ECM). Never understood why they did not collaborate on this.

One of my favorite PMG pieces. So wish I had had a chance to see this tour. I have seen PMG 3 times over the years. The most amazing group live. Members changed but the quality of the recordings and live shows remained top notch. SO SO glad I was able to hear Lyle's solo on "The First Circle" live. I so miss his music, but thankful for the great music he has left us.

I was fortunate to see this live in Vancouver Friday, February 25, 2005 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. I'd never heard the studio version & was stunned by the virtuosity of all the musicians involved to pull it off so perfectly. I've listened to the studio version hundreds of times since, plus the DVD released in 2006. The drumming alone is a syncopated flam & ghost stroke notation nightmare.

Last time Pat played at Ravinia, in Highland Park, north of Chicago, the set wasn't his best. But when he did a cut off his album As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls just with drummer Antonio Sanchez, when they finished, the audience was quite literally dumbstruck. I jumped up to applaud and scream Bravo in aye and total appreciation. If you've not seen the group, please do. You may never have the privilege to ever do so again. Life's short, and you can't "bye time."✌❤

El recital SANTIAGO octubre 2022, una berguenza ,como PAT tiene el descaro de presentarse, en lo que a mi respecta, con varios músicos menos, que son muy importantes para su sello musical histórico.
