Austin's soda fountain? The P.O. and Austin's are too separate facilities!!! I stopped watching after this blunder.
@RVerFrank
@RVerFrank 5 ай бұрын
The Austin soda fountain moved/combined (went to both before and after) with the new Austin market, the the Post Office moved from across the street into the old Austin soda fountain. This was accomplished around when the new police station by the Courthouse was built. It helps to have lived there to know the past history of the town.

@@RVerFrank I moved out of Menifee in 89 and lived off Bundy Canyon not far from Murietta Rd I think it was where Bundy turned into Scott Rd. That section of Bundy completely all the way to where you were in Quail Valley there seems to have frozen in time which I find incredible. Other than the sign change I got goose bumps when you went by the circle K especially. 😄

Bought a 2018 fleetwood fair low miles. Having this issue also. This is a major defect by fleetwood. No way to lift lid and see no easy access for bracket hardware on passenger side to try and lower box platform Not the easiest to disassemble the wiper motor either. What did you come up with ?

At around 11,000 miles I traded the RV in for a travel trailer so I never needed to change the air filter. The blue cap should have removed the dealer at time of purchase as it covers the airbox water drain.

Wow the mine was still active back then. I'm a trucker and I've been wanting to visit Rhyolite for a while, but it's hard to get a load going through there. I've seen some more recent weird ghost towns though. Usually it's on a US HWY in a town that lost business when they put in the Interstate a few miles away. There was one in Nevada, on US 6 about 8 miles before you hit the border in California. It was a dark night, and I just spotted it and I needed a place to shut down because I was running out of hours. I shined a flashlight around to see what it was. It just a burned out motel, a creepy burned out gas station/convenience store, etc. Looks like it was once a town until one day a gang of bikers came in and torched the town. I noped the hell out of there!
@RVerFrank
@RVerFrank 5 ай бұрын
I hear ya, lol. Lot's of sketchy people out in that part of the desert and worse today for many reasons. I don't wander off the beaten path anymore in Cali or Nevada, even if have to pass through there. Owens Valley has always been a great place to visit/fish the surroundings but not sure it is much of a truck route for other than milk runs to supply the few towns left up 395.

Frank the question is did the cold air intake make a difference on your gas mileage?
@RVerFrank
@RVerFrank 5 ай бұрын
Hard to tell with the the various roads we traveled, elevation changes pulling a toad. I recall the best mileage was 10 mpg and worse. It was I think the old school thinking that improving cold air flow can't hurt and too much time for low cost projects to find things to tinker with, lol.

Memories! In 1970, my dad bought a place in Wrightwood, a half hour drive away in the mountains S/W of Hesperia/Apple Valley. The Apple Valley Inn became a favored place for dinner location, especially when Dad found out that Roy & Dale liked to come into the restaurant for "Table Touches". In 1972, the "getaway" became the family's full-time residence, and, for the next fifteen years, the folks continued to frequent the Apple Valley Inn. To the best of my knowledge, they never did meet either Roy or Dale. Oh, well!

The memories experienced from visiting the little museum was fun. Talked to the son of neighbors of Roy and Dale back then who had some interesting info on the Victorville museum and it's being closed and sold off to buyers of contents. The museum in Lone Pine has a great display worth stopping by while in the Owens Valley area.
