yep, you can do any st(s) you want in a back loop, just keep in mind it's only 1 loop instead of 2 so might get floppy on you if you did, say, a bobble or something.

Great video! Can I ask why I'm unable to hook through all my third loops. They seem to be so tight and barely visible?
@StitchesnScraps
@StitchesnScraps Ай бұрын
1) it could be a tension thing, try using a larger hook or crocheting more loosely, or stick a smaller hook in the third loop and wiggle it to open it up more. 2) Is the loop bigger on the other side? one side has a tiny loop like you describe, the other side has a large loop.

Thank you so much for this tutorial! I'm very new at crotchet I've only made 3 small projects before this one and they were very simple designs. I was able to understand everything clearly and didn't have any questions. I've bought my last 3 projects from woobles and although they do overall a good job at explaining for the most part, there was a few times I was confused unsure on how to proceed. I didn't have that doing this cauldron! Very simple and turned out super cute! I wanted to make one because my last project was a ghost (getting all ready for Halloween already!) anyway thanks again! 🎉

Thank you for making this tutorial, i am making a cocoon vest with the stitch in original square form. But i want to make the sleeves on it with the same type of stitch. Im gonna see and try to make this work in the round, with no visible seem. I really hope i can figure it out but this video helps a ton ❤
@StitchesnScraps
@StitchesnScraps Ай бұрын
Awesome! My $.02 without having actually done it - I would put the join at the center of a fan, 1 st before the ch-1 sp. So like...start your round with ch 4 (counts as dc and ch-1), then 4 dc in same st. End the round with 3 dc in starting st, then join in 3rd ch of ch 4, and then sl st into the ch-1 sp. That way you're set up to start the next rnd with an sc in the ch-1 sp, then ch 3, cl, etc., joining back in the first sc. On the next round, start with an sc in the first sc, and a fan in the first cl, etc, ending with a join in the first sc. Finally on the next round, start and end with a half cl. this makes 2 half cl sts which isn't idea, but on the next rnd just work into the first one and sk the ending one and your stitch count will be fine. Also remember if you're not turning your rounds, you'll always be on the RS so will need to work your clusters as back post sts instead of front post sts.

What about when going back and forward in the round, do you have an invisible method for that?
@StitchesnScraps
@StitchesnScraps 2 ай бұрын
You can use this whether you're turning or not :) I usually pull the loop through from the wrong side of work to the RS of work, so the only difference if turning is that you may want to pull the loop through in opposite directions for RS and WS rounds.

How do you make the foundation row?do you make a chain of 6+2;then turn and do single sc in each stitch?
@StitchesnScraps
@StitchesnScraps 2 ай бұрын
It should be 6+4 chs (6+3 sts) - I had 21 for the sample. But you don't have to start from sc, you can start from chains or from any sts really, you just need a multiple of 6+3 spots to work into.

as someone suggested somewhere in the comments, try putting your hands inside the loop and "snapping" it a few times before winding, that might help loosen any tangles.
